Salt water version

Hi everyone

the family and I are looking at a 2008 220 super air

its for closed cooling however it’s been used in salt water.

i know master craft do their boats in a salt water series with a different
wiring harness and a full stainless steel hardware as an upgrade.

does nautique do this or are they salt water ready from the factory ?

Yes they are called Coastal Editions . My 2017 G23 is a Coastal Edition

I'm pretty sure there was no Coastal Edition in 2008. So don't expect saltwater specific adaptations to the boat your looking at.

A "salt" boat will have more corrosion and look more aged than a similar age fresh-water-only boat that has been maintained to the same degree. But you can find some salt boats that have been well maintained and save significantly on the purchase. If the baot is not priced at a significant discount compared to non-salt boats of the same age, then take a pass and keep looking. If you do buy baot that has been used in slat, set your expectations and plan accordingly. Budget some of those savings to deal with any problems you find. You can fix a lot of stuff for a $20k discount.

The down side is that salt never sleeps and once introduced into the boat it'll keep doing it's thing years after it's introduction.I agree with the above statement however expect to be dealing with at least minor issues as the boat ages that you probably wouldn't have with a non saltwater boat.
