I know Kmayotte is following this closely, too. You could post the info on the facebook page also, if you want to take it off this thread.

I live on a small, 250ish acre private lake. There is only one area on the lake that is suitable for surfing due to water depth and my house happens to be right at the turn around area. I can tell you for sure that mother nature has nothing on the surf boats. It's just not possible for wind to kick up that size of waves on the small lake. I don't surf, but in general don't mind when others do. However, the guys out there when the water is super high, or the ones that keep making passes non-stop do kind of get my blood boiling. I'd be lying if I said I have not thought about jumping in my boat and going down in front of their houses and making a bunch of 10 mph passes, just so they have an idea of the damage they cause.

Agreed Azues I invite any surf boat owner over to my dock and let them sit with me on my dock and see what they say after hours of pounding surf waves. It’s not the one wake it’s the constant pounding of wakes. Now that I own a surf vessel and a dock I am much more considerate with my wake. Almost to the point where I don’t surf as much any more.

And yes following closely. I've been to every meeting of the committee so far. I have a call scheduled tomorrow with the lobbyist working on behalf of the marine trades association.
steakNshake we should connect. I sent you a PM.Last edited by Kmayotte; 10-24-2019, 12:14 PM.

I am also on a small lake. We have the only wakeboat on the lake and in the past I've made some enemies by getting to close to shore. I've change my habits a few years ago as soon as I heard some grumbling from others on our lake and in the community. I now only boat in the middle of the lake or at least 200 ft from shore and avoid the areas where the houses are close to the water. Our lake is one which the water level in the 60's was real real low and people built up homes, the water is now at it's normal level and is almost at a few cabins doorsteps. Where I used to frequent their shoreline in the past to avoid the wind, I now stay well clear of their area and am mindful of where I'm sending wakes / waves.
I joined our Lake Association this year and attended the summer picnic hoping to field some comments, questions and have civil discussions. I did have good conversations with those present but unfortunately the people who dislike me the most are also those who dislike everyone else on the lake... so they have their own picnic and only invite those they like. Go figure.
The president of our lake association has had his son in our summer wake programs for youth so he is on our side and has spoke up for us during previous years meetings.
Best to understand how big your wakes and waves are, where they are going and avoid other boats and pontoons when possible.

It seems to me that most that use their boats as designed are generally the most courteous. On our 330 acre private lake it seems like many people own and use nice wakeboard to pull tubes. They throw some decent size wakes just to pull tubes. That isn’t helping the situation of chopping up the lake...

Being polite is nice and all, but when Godzilla rolls through downtown Tokyo, even if he sticks to the middle of town, only knocks down buildings between 10 am and 4 pm, and tries not to disturb the hospitals and subways, some people are still gonna think he's just not a good fit for the City.Last edited by jjackkrash; 10-28-2019, 12:23 PM.

Although honestly I think it is more what you do. Surfing with it's huge slow rollers for hours, I think that is what brought the more pervasive attention to the issue.
