    Removable Guide Posts

Has anyone made thier guide posts removable?

I am thinking about cutting the guide off about 6 inchs high, welding a smaller pole inside the part that is cut off so that it will insert to the base and can be pinned. This will give me about 6 inches on each side of the trailer to clear the garage.

By the way I am the proud owner of a 96 SN with a Dorsy trailer.

My Dorsey trailer has a bolt that holds the guide post on, I could just unbolt the post

mine are welded to the trailer and a pin is much easer than having to unbolt.

My trailer has a square tube under the rear of the trailer that the post slides into horizontally, and is held in with a bolt. This way, the posts can be adjusted in and out to suite the boat/trailer/owner's preferance.

My old DHL trailer that I had with my Ski Brendella had removable guides, just as you said, smaller 8" shaft inside that the guide slid over. My newer DHL with our SN doesn't have this, but I guess I never used the removable guides before for anything. Any reason you want to remove them Brent on your Dorsey?

Removing them will give me about 4 inches extra on each side when backing it into the garage. That way the tires will be the widest part and they are easer to see when backing.

Yep, I know what you mean Brent. I have to back our SNOB into a garage that is 21.5 ft deep, at a slight angle, threading between a support post and stairs into our house. 3-car garage, but barely enough room for my truck, a Pathfinder, and the SN in-between. 4 inches makes a HUGE difference!
