Jump Seats

I have seen two styles of jump seats out there. I am considering purchasing one, but am not sure which style I like.

This one has a curved seat surface that fits into the observer's seat. It is nice if you're planning to only use it in that location, but might not fit well anywhere else, like behind the driver's seat.



The one below is straight, and looks a little bit out of place when placed between the driver's seat and the observer's seat. Also, the back isn't as tall as the observer's seat, so I think it looks a little bit strange. It would work well in other locations though.



Were these differences in the seats just for different model years, or do you get a choice when you order one?
Do those of you that have them use them?

I believe prior to ’03 the jump seats had the curve to them as shown in the first picture.

When I ordered my ’03 I was not given the choice to order a different style. I always leave mine directly behind the driver’s seat because there is always a ballast bag through the walkway. Seems to fit perfectly in that location and I haven’t wished it had the curve to it once.

I think that's where mine would be most of the time too. It seems like it would be too difficult to get in and out of the driver's seat with the jump seat in the way. Did Murray have two jump seats in his boat? I seem to remember that he had two facing into the center of the boat behind the driver's seat. That looked like it worked pretty well. Did he still have it like that when you were there? I think I saw his like that at one of the BYT stops.

Actually, when I was there he only had the single jump seat right next to the driver's seat.

Forgo the jump seat and make a seat like I did and put a couple subs in it for good measure. I find that the jump seat in the walkway is more in the way than not. Usefull in winter when there is only a few in the boat and nobody uses the bow area but, in summer there is a lot of traffic front to back.

I've been trying to decide which way to go with this. I really like the way yours turned out, but I thought the jump seat might be a less expensive alternative. I'm still considering a setup like yours. It really looks great.

Does the addition of the cooler seat limit the travel of the driver's seat?

I like that idea of a jump seat in the middle btw the driver and passanger, however for those who buy one with thier boat, i think they should at least be able to get it to match, as in colors and stripes wise, oppose to just being blank, dont you think?

I have a white one like the second option that I would be willing to sell. It is in perfect shape and if I don't sell it I will only use it for Play Station...

I'm interested..what are the dimensions of the jumpseat and what do want for the seat. Where are you located? Please advise as I need one for my '87 Dominique.

I contacted SECC, they said retail for the jump seat is $279. I will sell mine for $175 + shipping. It is in perfect shape solid white with grey carpet. Sorry this is not in classified I had not previously considered selling it.

Do you guys know if there is a difference in sizes between older jump seats and newer ones? I have the jump seat shown as the second example and mine is too big for my '01 SAN. It is taller than the observers seat and doesn't fit flush. It does fit pretty well behind the drivers seat which is where I normally put it. I'd love to have one that fit right though!!! Lucky... what year is your seat??

Mine is from a 2000 SAN, here is the only picture I have from the iboats.com add, but this the actual boat. If interested I will get close up pictures next time I am at the lake.

Lucky does that seat push all the way back between the drivers and observers seat? Same height?? Something must have changed from '01 to '02??

It fits snuggly into position next to the observer seat and it leaves some room for the driver to get in and out of poistion. The seat is one piece and it does not reclient or anything of that nature. It weighs about 25 pounds. The reason I do not want it is I don't like to be crowded as the driver and with the v-drive there is already enough seating for my needs. It also blocks the way to the bow.

Honestly I only use my jump seat behind the drivers seat, it fits perfect and is the most comfortable seat in the boat. You get to watch the rider with your feet up in a comfortable position and out of the cold wind if there is any.

No need to have it in the middle for ballance if you have some lead bags to move around to fine tune the wake.
