    Is tower upgrade worth it?

Just looking for some opinions. I have a 2004 Air 216TE and am thinking of upgrading from the FCT2 to an FCT5. Is that a good idea or just a waste of money? Thanks

Unless its your dream boat and you plan on keeping it forever it will be a bad investment . It will not add any value it may even detract from the value.

It won't add value to your boat but as a driver, I appreciate the unobstructed view the newer towers provide.

Unless you can get a smoking deal on a tower and well your other one it certainly won't be a good investment. That said 2 post towers are the stuff and what drove me to =sell my old boat and buy something newer.

Thanks, kind of what I was thinking but was on the fence.

I have looked at multiple big $$ upgrades for my 2004 210 but the lack of value they hold at resale keeps me from pulling trigger. I hope to upgrade to a 23 foot boat in the future so that plays a big part in decisions I make now.

Agreed. My last boat was a 2007. It was still in very good condition but the interior was starting to get tired. The estimates I got from the shops I knew that did "like new from the factory" interiors were quoting me $6500 - $7000 for a complete interior including new seat base foam. As much as I liked the boat there was no way I could justify putting $7K into a $40K boat without keeping it for another 5 - 7 years. While I loved the boat for what it was it had a 4 post tower I was not in love with. Heavy and hard to fold it really held me back from keeping it. I decided to sell it this last spring and the new owner was thrilled to have her.

I now have another one of the boats I had always wanted to own and while I do miss the old boat at times I'm still good with the decision I made to move on. Everyone making one of these high dollar decisions has to weigh the same options. To some who are happy and can see the value in the investment it's worth it to others like myself it's better to save up and upgrade to another boat. In the end you need to do what's right for you but do so knowing that any high dollar investment will most likely not bring those investment dollars back to you when you decide to sell later.
