There was a time when I saw a inboard boat on the water and knew here was a driver who knows how to handle his boat and has the manors and boating etiquette to operate his boat in a safe way and not ruin the water for everybody. Those days are gone now most of the newer surf ships belong to people that don't know and don't care about learning operation or boating etiquette . After all its all about them having fun . There is no way this market can continue and when the bubble bursts it will be these over priced hi tech wonders that will suffer the biggest drop. I saw a similar bubble in the mid to late 80's every manufacture was building inboards even Bayliner 10 years later only a few were still building inboards.

Seeing a Correct Craft or MasterCraft on the water typically used to mean they were masters of water sports and took boating to a higher level. Effortlessly gliding into the gas dock, slipping the boat sideways at the last minute to parallel dock the boat or precision power loading their craft at the ramp they set themselves apart from the amateurs that terrorized the lake with their lack of boating skills. Now a days when you see a large surf ship there's a better than 60% chance it's a Noob with a big wallet or worse yet their kids. Classic moves include surfing 100' off the shoreline with docks, blasting stereos in the early morning and my personal favorite the clown show at the ramp. For me it's the power turns, whether skiing, wakeboarding, surfing or otherwise. All it takes in one boat in a cove doing power turns to pick up riders and it'll ruin the whole cove. IComment

I think we’re using some rose colored glasses. Ramps have always been awful. Water has been getting churned since wakeboarding became a thing in the late 90s. The sweet spot as far as etiquette still looks to me like someone with a 10+ year old watersports-specific boat. I hope whatever trend is next goes back to smaller wake but I wouldn’t hold my breath on that.Comment

Although I always preface my opinion with knowledge that they have the right to do so...what bugs my crew the most is people that aren't doing any water sport or anything, but are cruising around anyway messing up the water. it always seems like they start up when we start up...urgg.
2nd most irritating is the jet ski's that try to get air off our wake but get way too close...
p.s. i would say that the amount of time wake boarders actually mess up the water is a lot less then surfers. our usual crew of 3 wake boarders takes 2 sets each x 15 minutes = 90 minutes. 3 guys surfing at least double if not triple the time messing up the water.Last edited by scottb7; 11-14-2019, 12:57 PM.Comment

I see far more jet skis and *insert literally ANY boat maufacturer* pulling a tuber disregarding the safety of everyone on the lake than surfers. I have been surfing my lake for 13 years and have yet to get a complaint or have a close call.Comment

It is not a "boat" or a "lake" thing. I believe it is a culture shift. More people with money who do not care about anyone but themselves. Driving on the road used to be much safer and people were more considerate of others as well. Now if you don't like someone texting and driving, or sitting at a green light while they finish scrolling FB, people think that YOU are the inconsiderate one. We have allowed this to creep in, and it will be near impossible to fix it now. Or someone will get offended and we can't have that.Comment

I think there are enough threads already about how “surf ships” and Tubers from the depths of **** are ruining everyone’s lives. Do we need another one? Between that and stupid trailer towing arguments I have to assume there is nothing interesting left to talk about.
