I placed my order for a G23 last week. I went with the ZZ6 since I live at sea 1000ft. The only options I skipped were steering assist, the sunpad filler cushion, table, extinguisher. I am starting to second guess my decision of skipping steering assist and getting the actuated tower. My boat stays on a lift at the dock, I don't have any clearance issues, and hardly ever tow. Should I ditch the power tower, actuated tower bimini, and get the standard tower, standard bimini, with steering assist? It might be nice to cover the boat on the lift with the tower down, but steering assist seems more worth it, and the net difference wouldn't be much at all.

Thoughts?

If you don't think you'll use the tower much, then I'd say go for the steering assist which I'd say you will definitely use. Can still fold the standard tower if needed so if it's only once in a while no big deal having the manual tower.

The G23 is a very large boat with a very large profile. If you plan on boating alone or with a crew with limited boating experience then having steering assist is probably going to be used more and will be more of an assist than the power tower. These towers are well balanced and not anywhere near as difficult as the old 4 post or even 2 post towers of 10 years ago to fold down by a single person. I would suggest going back to the dealer and having them walk you through the process of folding down the tower then make your decision from there.During the demo I had last spring on a G21, I was able to easily fold up the Bimini operate the tower locks and for the tower in under 10 minutes. Very easy with zero heavy lifting.

I agree with bturner and Master-Spud. Go with sterring assist then punt the power tower for standard tower based on your storage situation. I have the same storage situation as you and the standard tower has been fine; steer assist would have been great but it was not offered on the 2017 models.

Another vote for steering assist... My 2014 G25 tower is easy to manipulate, and I think the newer towers are easier. So the power tower is really only needed if you know you need to use it every trip or super regular. As for the steering assist... If you are used to driving an inboard like the G23, you will manged fine without it. However, even though I am now used to driving without it, it is a priority for my next purchase. turning around to pick up beginner wake boarders or surfers 6-10 times when they are learning to get up, wow... if I could do that a little faster with the steering assist, it would pay off in time saved.

id get steering assist before the power tower anyday all day, honesty don't even like the look of the giant based power tower or the extra twist the sides have. plus you can lower a manual tower faster than it takes the power tower to fold LOL

IMO, thenpower tower base is obnoxiously big.

I submitted the request to change it, just hoping it isn't too late. I wasn't supposed to get the boat until February so should be good.

Smart move. Steering assist is a big ticket item you will leverage frequently. We use ours 100% in manual mode to tweak getting in and out of our lift.

Nautique got the change in. It was only a net cost difference of 3000 to me, so well worth it in my opinion.

ZZ6 engine.... is that only 400hp?

No. The ZZ6 is 450 HP / 465 Torque. Same as the H6 in previous years.
