It will be interesting to see if any PN member will be able to achieve a deductible of less than $5,000 with SkiSafe on a new Paragon without lowering the coverage value of their boat. Didn’t happen to me on my new G23 at the time until I lowered the coverage. No premium price would lower the deductible of less than $5,000 when I purchased my G with SkiSafe regardless of the price I was willing to pay for coverage.

Mine came due from Ski Safe a couple weeks ago and had zero change from the previous year as well.

OK guys just received my Ski Safe renewal notice and it went up $15.00 therefore I will not shop. To compare to your policy here are my particulars.

          2017 G23
          • Annual Premium $626.00
          • Hull coverage $120,000.00
          • Towing $600.00
          • Standard deduct $1,000.00
          • Windstorm deduct $3.000.00
          • Liability Coverage $500,000.00 (this amount is required by my umbrella policy)
          • Personal Property deduct $250.00
          • Uninsured Boater included in liability coverage
          • Medical payment $25,000.00
          • Disappearing deductible over time( $1,000.00 now drops to $750.00 7/1/20, then drops another $250.00 on each anniversary until the deductible is eliminated completely)
          • Key point here lay up period 10/15-4/15

If you have a policy with substantially better coverage for less I would like to hear

My policy is almost identical (2017 G23), slightly higher hull coverage (125k), slightly higher deduct (2500), slightly lower liability (300k) for $620-- layup for 4 months and premium didn't go up from last year

Ski Safe is proud of their high deductibles vs competition. It was my choice to bring the value down to $120,000 which was the level I needed to get the $1,000 deductible. I did add the disappearing deductible which added to the cost to my premium but I thought it might be worth it to bring the deduct down over time

If it wasn't for your umbrella policy, would you have gone with a lower liability limit?

Yes I probably would have gone with a lower liability limit. That should save you some dollars if lowered.

I just picked up Ski Safe for my boat, it looks like it is only a 300,000 liability to 500,000 was a 22 dollar difference... the killer was freeze coverage. for Boat us, it was 25 dollars, for Ski Safe it's 140... I still need to decide if I want to do it, I have until the end of Aug to decide.

I renewed my BoatUS (Geico) yesterday. Mine went up $18 to $350. Strangely about the same amount it would cost to lower the deductible to the level the "disappearing" deductible went down. Me thinks the deductible isn't disappearing, it just moving to the base rate.
