SV 211 from a 99 Ski

Hello All,

I'm considering selling my 99 ski and moving into a 2008 or so SV211. I have a bit of a family and ski on open water.

Classically i'm off the dock at 28 off at 32-34 miles an hour. The question I have is am I gonna have to hang up the waterski if I sell the 196 or is the 211 actually halfway decent for a washed up competitive skier?

The 211 should be a decent compromise for what you're trying to do. It won't be a '99 Ski Nautique wake, but it won't be bad. Try to find someone in your area with a 211 that you can ski behind and see if it'll work for you.

You are probably a better skier than me, but I went from a 97 Sport to a 211 and honestly didn’t see much difference with the hydro gate down. I imagine an actual Ski Nautique would be different. I agree with Jeff, see if you can ski behind one and see what you think. I really love my 211 for a do everything family boat.

I'll have to go down the lake an make an awkward intro but I think there is an 04 211 down there. hopefully pulling up in a nautique will help grease the wheels. I assume the hulls were all the same year over year? obviously newer is generally better but I think 08 and up has the zero off so that's likely preferable or does it really matter?

The hulls are all the same. Not sure what year they went to zero off. If you are going 08 or newer you might look at spending another $15k if you can afford it and go with a 2010 Sport 200. If I could that’s what I would do in a heartbeat.

I have a friend who bought a 2007 last fall. I only skied it once and coming from my ski it was a noticeable bump. We did t get out on it enough to see if it could be toned down at all. That was with only two guys in the boat. Looked huge next to my 2000 ski. Not sure I would take it in the course but you can definitely make sone open water cuts behind it.

It will make a difference skiing, but the shorter the line and the faster you ski, the less difference it will make, as a general rule. But any V-drive is going to handle like a pig compared to a D-drive. I have really tried and wanted to like V-drives in the past, but every time I drive one I just hate how they handle from the driver's seat.
