    Winter Boat Projects

The holidays are over. Now let’s fast track to spring and summer please!

Is anybody taking advantage of the downtime and working on boat projects?

I have a platform ladder and and transom remote to install on my 230.

Nothing on the G. She's all tucked away until March. But lots of work to do on the dock.

Thanks! I am going to make an attempt at cleaning up the vinyl covered helm and captain's seat this week. If that doesn't work out, I will have an Amish guy redo them for me. I will be painting the fence /railing in the next couple of months. As soon as weather improves, I will install new treated 3/4" plywood. (I don't feel like the extra cost for marine grade plywood is worth it.) I will then install vinyl flooring using a kit from pontoonstuff.com, then reinstall the railing, helm, etc. Our seating consists of plastic Adirondack chairs that work out very well for us. They are fairly comfortable and stable. But most of all, they are very low maintenance. We ski in the morning and/or evening. The Nautique sits on the lift most of the day unless my granddaughter wants to go tubing. We love having the pontoon to cruise around the lake during the afternoon and evening, but don't want to spend our time taking care of it.

CHassmann My wife would love to have a pontoon for just cruising the lake. Post some pics when you're finished with the project.

Here's one of my winter projects. This one may end up as a full restoration, or it may end up just being cleaned up and sold as-is. This is twin-engine Fish Nautique number two of three ever built.

If anyone wants to make me an offer before I start on it, I am open to that! I have enough other projects to keep me busy this winter.

Here's mine...some nifty new trunk wings from site sponsor C&S.

Did the skin installs myself...came out great. Sandra and Paul at C&S had some good suggestion along the way.

(Purplish color is due to twilight lighting...grr)

Getting the boat ready for spring. Includes getting my new GoPro working with the boat. Have a 2019 GS 22 the Linc screen recognizes the camera but does not connect when I enter the PW. Any experience out there with the GoPro?

Repair a crack in one of my tower mounting plates and powder coat... already have the tower off.

Repair a pinhole in the heater core of my heater so it will stop leaking.

Cut out the "bump" in the footwell under the dash so I can push my new sub enclosure further under, and relocate all the wiring.

Is that tower steel or aluminum? Fixing it yourself?

Aluminum... I have a friend who owns a machine shop as well as is into custom cars so he is going to do the repairs for me. I'm thinking about having him cut al the mounting plates off and weld on thicker plates to keep this from happening in the future, but will leave that up to his discretion. Having a couple WS Rev410s mounted for the last 8 seasons has taken their toll I believe and these towers have a bunch of side-to-side movement.

My project is similar to Jeff’s...... similar in the way that it is a reconditioning of a very rare twin engine boat that was built by a wake/ski boat company but isn’t a wake/ski boat. More to come soon. The boat will arrive at my shop next week. It’s getting a full restoration as needed (it’s not super old, so a lot of it just needs elbow grease. Some pretty major gel work though), also a repower with 2 new complete 2020 engines, and new electronics/gauges/stereo.

feel free to guess the boat

                            will reveal soon.

That MC center console boat they built? I don’t remember if they were available with twin engines or not.
