    2019 Nautique 230 with over 800 miles?

We are in the process of purchasing our first boat. Given our budget we are looking at purchasing a 2020 Moomba Craz. We chose the craz based in cost as well as the size of the boat. I had a friend who owns a Nautique 210 and just bought a GS22 do the demo with me and overall was impressed.

we were just made aware of a 2019 Nautique 230 for sale as the same price as the 2020 Moomba. It’s a former Ski School boat with 800 miles on it. Am told the full warranty would be in place until 1,000 hours or 2024.

certainly the Nautique is a better made boat but are trying to determine if it makes sense given the high number of hours. Thoughts?

I’d take a 2019 230 with 800 hours over any moomba everyday day of the week. That’s just my .02

      Miles?

I would take a 2019 800-hour Nautique over a new Moomba without thinking twice.

        hate to be the contrarian...

but A this is a nautique fan website, and that is a lot of hours...you gonna soon need fuel pumps and other stuff...at 1100 or 1200 hours my old 210 v drive went out...and it was well maintained...stuff happens at those high hours...that maybe op doesn't want to deal with..

and B both nautique and moomba boats are both just pieces of fiberglass with engines bolted in...

I would not rule out the moomba...demo them both and buy what makes sense to you...your not marrying it...you just buying a boat...

Thanks. Yeah, I'm also buying a car too and didn't proof read my post (in regards to my Mile comment). My buddy was really surprised how far the Moombas have come (still not a Nautique, I know). Wasn't sure if there was any logic in a late model boat with high hours as comparing to a vehicle, in that a late model high mile vehicle is still a good option in that many of the issues occur in pure age regardless of use. Especially here in Florida with our heat. Thanks again.

well my truck has nearly 800 hours on it, 5xx drive and 2xx idle.
it has 12K (12 thousand) total miles on it.
            food for thought

I am not sure of the right answer, but this is classic conundrum. It is either buying a used Mercedes with 90K miles or a brand new Chevy.

My buddy bought a Nautique ski school boat from Florida with 1200 hours on it. He now has 1500 and it has been a great boat. He did have to replace the throttle assembly, but everything else has been perfect.

What is the warranty on the Moomba these days?

Jeeze...don’t compare a used Nautique to a used German car. I would never own the latter outside of warranty...lol

the nautique has a transferrable 5 year warranty. it was about $800 when i did it on my '17 GS20

Is there an hour limitation to the warranty?

I would still lean toward the Nautique. Check into warranty transfer if possible (link screen would be expensive to replace, not to mention engine and Vdrive system). These boats 'should' do 2000 hours with original factory equipment... Ski schools can tend to be hard hours... What kind of ski school? All wake boarding and surfing with slammed ballast? bare footing with WFO throttle a lot? Maybe a computer hooked up can tell you how many hours at idle and WOT... Still think your re-sale will be better on the Nautique

couple things...in some years you could only transfer the nautique warranty once...so if 3rd owner...nope...

also, my dad had old mercedes diesels in the 80's...the things were bullet proof...so i got a couple of used ml320/ml350 2001, and 2004. that crap was so bad...differentials going out, engine balance shafts. window switches go bad early, connectors to spark plug coils breaking...I strongly agree with comment above that you can't own a European car without a warranty

and even high mile cars have issues...water pumps, alternators, etc....a new less expensive boat is not necessarily a bad thing...

I would stick with a Nautique but look for a lower hour, used boat in my price range. Drop a couple of years and the depreciation hit is taken and you will find something that is basically brand new.

                          Didn't Nautique go from a 500 hours/ 5 year warranty in 2017 model year to a 1000 hours/ 5 year warranty for 2018 and newer models?

Agree with srock,, I look in the used market a lot and I don't feel like high hour newer boats are priced accordingly. I would be ready to spend an extra 5-10K to get a 250 hour boat and keep more resale value down the line if you really want a Nautique. Selling a boat later with 1K+ hours will scare a lot of buyers even if hitting 1.5K - 2K hours is totally possible with this brand. Good luck shopping and take your time!

I’d get the Moomba over any 800 hour anything. The new Moombas are nice. Buy that or a different used boat.
