What two years? There were 2018 broken, I am pretty sure.

Since the change was made during 2018 builds. None reported for 19’s or 2020 I was told.

I like the optimism. But me thinks it is a little early for Nautique to include 2020 as a year with no problems....considering the boating season has not even started for 2020....it being February.

I'm sure they mean model year. Just because your below 0, it's 80 here in Florida. I'm sure somewhere down here someone is hammering on a Nautique

So, back to ENGINES! Please comment if you have info:

-Has anyone had experience with the new turbo Yanmar diesel yet? Lots of torque...595 ftlb. This is certainly the important number on a surf boat.
-The zz8 is the only engine available on "build your Nautique" for either Paragon- not supercharged?
-Through 2019, the XR7 supercharged 550 HP was the top engine. This is no longer available anywhere? Somewhat concerning. No more superchargers?

I gave a short summary on the Paragon thread you can read. Good engine so far. Need parts, fluid, capacity specs, etc. from PCM.

I have a friend that bought a new M240 with this engine in it a few months back. It has power but definitely drinks the fuel, I can see the need for it in some of these monster boats being built. In this boat, when loaded up with ballast/people and surfing, every few minutes you can see the percentage go down (not that the gauge is an accurate enough testament). To give a more accurate comparison.... we started out with a full tank and went surfing, after 3hrs of surfing with all the start/stop/idle to pickup fallen rider, etc.... it started beeping since it was reading 15%, I dumped ballast (super fast pumps on that boat, fills/dumps all stock ballast in 3mins!) and drove it the 3 miles or so to the marina and docked with it showing 11%, the attendant put $180 of fuel in it. @ $3.20gal it was 56gal put in (believe that boat is speced with approx 80gal fuel tank total).... so running the numbers it was burning roughly 16-18gal per hour. With the wedge/surfgate deployed, that lines up pretty close with what others have said about average fuel burn with similar boats, so I suppose it isn't really all that bad considering all things. Since my personal boat loaded with ballast/people, with the ZR409 engine drinks 1/3rd of that doing the same activities, its seemed high to me personally of course, but my boat also has the InfinityWave surf tabs which don't create as much drag as the surf systems on Malibu & Nautique.
On another note, this is the first boat I have driven all day that had a stern drive. I am so used to driving my 24ft with the standard prop walk that it took me a little while to get used to using the stern drive in a way that was beneficial. The boat is so big/heavy it does not react right away to input tho once I figured it out there were some benefits and would make things slightly easier in some situations (IMO if windy or needing to dock on the opposite side in really tight quarters or waiting in a line of boats to get fuel at marina).
Personally, I am used to not having it and I use the prop pull to my advantage and rarely run into a situation I cant easily maneuver how I want and so would not opt for it if whenever I buy a new boat. For a first time inboard owner it may be invaluable.

Malibu doesn’t use PCM engines or stern drives. Did you mean stern thrusters?
