The interior changed a little but not the running surface. And even the interior wasn’t much different in 2000 compared to the 95. The big changes there came later. It’s the OG SAN hull from 95 right up the end in 06. The 99 hull change was on the direct drive Air Nautique, not the v drive.

I initially used a suck gate and full ballast. One day I lost the wedge and it sank so I just listed the boat by doing full weight on the side we’re surfing. I preferred the wave listed so I didn’t get another wedge.

If you do get the boat I have a semi-recent write up with lots of pictures on a ballast install somewhere on this forum.

I have an 04, same hull. The wakeboard wake is great, the surf wake is ok to good.
For surfing i run about 2,400 lbs ballast with 350 lb bias to the surf side and an original mission delta suck gate.
The goofy wave is nice, regular side is iffy. My crew are all goofy, so i gave up on the regular side wave.
The wave is powerful, the pocket is fairly deep. It just is not large. I'm a solid 200 lbs and can drop back with my board behind my 20 ft surf rope ( dragging in the water) and just stand on the gas and come back up to the boat without pumping.
But i have a buddy with a 2019 230 and my surf wave is noticeably smaller.
I would also note my surf wave is steep, great for surfing, sucks for skimming.

The pocket is short and small. You can almost sink the boat and it won’t help much. I traded for a 230 so it’s kind of an unfair comparison, but you’re going to get tired of that surf wave real fast. Put some weight up front and it will be decent but not great at slalom.

FWIW, I paid $16k for my super sport two years ago and it was in really good condition but it definitely had some hours on it. I don’t think $14k is a great deal, especially if those cushions are missing. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
I owned a '98 super sport for 13 years, phenomenal boat! The surf wave is actually pretty decent IF you use a good surf wedge.

Cadesun, since I ended up buying the boat, can you tell me wheat wedge you used and what was your setup? Thanks in advance.

Congratulations on your purchase! Here’s the link to my ballast install if you’d like to see what I did there.

I believe it was the Liquid Force one.

Were you able to get the price down at all?

I picked up a 95 this past year and am planning on doing some updates. Working on a seadek install now.

I owned a '98 Super Sport for 13 years and have to disagree on the surf wake IF you add a surf wedge. Trust me, it is worth the money. Other than that, loved that boat!
