Im looking to buy a 2016 g23 any issues to look for?

looking at buying a 2016 g23 is this a good year to buy? is anyone had major issues with theres or know what to look for when checking it out and demoing the boat. Its warranty will be up in June Is it worth the 3k for the 2 year extended warranty? This will be my first boat owned.

Redesigned, lower splash forward hull, which is good. 2017 offered the current LINC Panoray and tower redesign but the older POLK head unit. 2018 offered a 6" higher tower to keep one from banging his (or her head on tower speakers)... Does this help?

Every year of the g23 is a great year. (And in 2016 you cleared the hurdle of the redesigned bow hull for overspray while surfing in the wind, and you get the joystick to control settings)

Not having the redesigned Panoray LINC screen would be a deal killer for me . They were not available until year 2017 . Also if this 2016 is equipped with the Surf Select option, you will have to upgrade the module to a 2.0 for it to function with the Pebble watch or upgrade to the 3.0 module to work with the Garmin Fenix watch. The stock module on the 2016s works with no watch.

The stock module on the 2016 does work with the pebble watch... I was using mine perfectly fine and have not upgraded anything there. The screen on the 2017 is nice, but the 2016 although smaller still has basically all the same functions.

This thread kind of points out the obvious. That there are improvements every year. And some of the improvements are important to some people and not to other people.

So let me state the obvious for all these kind of threads: Within your price range, buy the newest you can.

Let me clarify what George was saying. At this time, there is NO way to bring up a new Pebble watch to work with a MY 2016 with the Surf Select 1.0 module. If you have a Pebble that's working, you're in good shape. Just don't lose it.

The problem is the Pebble servers are gone and the replacement Rebble servers do NOT have the old version of the app that works with Surf Select 1.0.

This thread also reminds me to ask...is there any kind of model history changes document/FAQ/summary page that details the various changes to the G for each model year? Would be nice to know when doing comparisons of 2017 vs 2018 vs 2019 etc.

In recent years Nautique has been posting walkthrough videos on YouTube for each model of each year. They always highlight the changes. Assuming they are still up you could watch those.

I think if you can swing it the linc panoray screen, and jl components in the 17 are worth it. Went from a '13 to a '17 for the hull redesign, captains char and the aforementioned items. Also swapped the polk headunit to the JL model, but you could live without it, for a season anyway :P

For what it's worth I got a warranty on the '13 like you're describing (2 year) and we used it for a few items so it ended up paying for itself. My biggest worry was the linc screen (5k part) -- luckily the linc issues were resolved by sending the screen back to the factory for a reflash for no charge other than shipping.
