    COVID-19 In Your Area

    Hi

We are in Oregon, but I don't think we are alone. I am actually surprised that some states aren't doing this, and my guess is that most will get there.

All state parks have been closed, which includes most boat ramps. Attached is a pic from yesterday at Lake Billy Chinook, one of the more popular areas in the state. It was eerie seeing no boats on the water, never seen that before.

My son is in Southern California now, and says that police are stationed at trailheads, beaches and public areas to enforce stay at home orders.

I know that Nevada has closed a lot too and heard that Mead was largely shut down on the Nevada side. Nevada closures: "All park facilities, including restrooms, launch ramps, beaches, picnic areas, campgrounds and marinas". On the Arizona side things are open for now I think.

I believe that Florida is just starting to roll out stay at home orders, so who knows how that will affect production, as well as the supply chain, employees, etc.

I hate to say it, but I think the boating season (at least the front half for now) has been cancelled in a lot of places here in the west (and probably spreading elsewhere rapidly).

I live on Lake Keowee in SC. Our governor closed all boat launches in the state as of yesterday. If you have a dock there is no restriction on boating, if you trailer your boat you’re out of luck. This came about because large groups of folks were rafting up, hanging out at Sand bars and islands on the lakes. So for now many boaters are done for the season.

Ya - that was the problem in Oregon. Everyone headed to the beaches and campgrounds, and people from other states came in as well - it looked like Florida spring break in places. The state had no choice but to shut everything down as the incoming people were snapping up already scarce supplies and putting communities at risk.

We’re an hour and a half from Atlanta, lots of wealthy second home owners here. The actions last weekend happened down in the center of the state I believe, most of the folks up here haven’t been out much. We’ll see how it goes, this weekend we’ll be in the mid 70’s.

Washington state checking in...IMO good weather had a lot to do with our local lock down. We had an early nice spring weekend two weeks ago and everything was crushed - ocean beaches, hiking trails, local parks, you name it. Next day the Governor announced the statewide lockdown as it was pretty clear that self-policing wasn't going to happen. As the weather turns and cabin fever sets in, it's gonna get rugged. :/ Not looking forward to it.

I know north Carolina has a state wide stay at home order...but we have only one public ramp and have seen a lot of boats out (have a house on lake) so ...I dont think they are closed , I know you can go out side and exercise in groups of 10 or less... under Governor rule ...

Still too cold up here in Michigan to be a real problem with people heading to the beaches and only the die hard fishermen are on the lakes and rivers so far. That and our slow to do anything Gov "Half"-Whitmer has been consistently 2 weeks behind implementing best practices. She does seem to find plenty of time to mug for pictures and anything to do with media exposure though so there is that.

Our cottage is in Canada and we're pretty much thinking that the border will be closed until at least June. Not ready to give up the season yet but it certainly isn't looking good.

I'm glad we took our boat out of storage and got it on the lift last weekend!

NY- we are like Michigan right now. Too cold for boating, but state parks/launches are closed as well. I believe our season will start late but shouldn’t kill the whole thing. At least if this outbreak stalls and falls in the next month or so

Lake Tillery in NC was hopping last weekend. 85 & sunny. If people start to congregate at ramps and marinas I'm sure it'll be shut down too.

As of right now ( new orders to be announced at 2 pm. today ), all Boat Launches are open in Ohio, but we haven't had any good weather that people would really go out in. I can see there being idiots that raft up / not be responsible about it and ruin it for the rest of us that will follow the social distancing rules. The Governor purposefully left golf courses open under new guidelines, so i am hoping that he will do the same for boating, but it only takes a few to ruin it for everyone else.

I called Disco Bay Harbor here on the Delta and they are fully operational, most other lakes around Nor Cal are shutdown.

I’m in Washington state, pretty much all launches, trails heads, state campgrounds and DNR land is closed. Fishing and spring bear and turkey is closed/canceled. I’ve heard a few launches that access saltwater (Puget sound) are the only ones open, and those are down to 1 lane and for “essential” users only. I sure wish our Governor shut down these areas about 2 weeks earlier, people really didn’t listen to “we recommend you to stay home” at all! IMO is its better to be safe than sorry, boating for the majority is a luxury, probably more so simply recreation, it’s not a necessity.

i was looking forward to Lake Billy this summer, but we moved back down to Lake Tahoe.
All the lakes around here are closed. However, it is essentially winter still. we had 3-4 ft of snow 2 weeks ago and there is a forecast for an additional 2 ft this weekend
