    Courtesy Lighting Package

I’m thinking about upgrading my 2017 230 to a 2020 GS24. My local dealer has a beautiful GS24 but it doesn’t have the courtesy lighting package which is pretty much the one option I told myself I wouldn’t make a concession on. My dealer states they can install it if it’s a deal breaker. I’m not sure I’m comfortable with it being installed after the fact because of the amount of wiring associated with the job. When a boat is being built it’s easy to get all that wiring installed and secured properly and I’m not sure it’d be that simple to do after the fact. I really think it would end up being a massive job with a huge margin for error resulting in the potential for electrical issues either immediately or down the road. I’m also concerned that the lack of that option would hurt resale and marketability. What does everyone think?

Lighting upgrade aside what the reason you want to go from a 230 to a GS 24 ? Do you think you will be happy with a GS24 ? Track record not that great for that model. Have you considered a G23 ?

I did consider a g23 but it was about $20,000 more. I’m told the 2020 GS24 with the updated hull produces a much better surf wave than previous years. TBD of course. I plan to surf it in May before committing to anything.

Aftermarket installers do all sorts of lighting installs that don’t have issues. I’m guessing an OEM kit and a competent installer should be just fine.

I would be willing to bet that all of the wiring is already in place. Typically, they make a single wiring harness per model, and whether you order the option or not, the wiring is there. Same for underwater lights, etc.

Wiring is already there. I think they just need to add the function to the linc through the dealer menu.

that was the one option i wanted to add to our order, but my wife said absolutely not.
here i am looking to add it. from what i understand, the wiring is there already.
i just need to know what else is needed other than the obvious lights, cup holders, and seat emblem?
if the wiring is there, it doesn't seem like it would be too big of an undertaking and not really that expensive

Update. I just heard back from my dealer and as others have stated, the wiring is already in place so the job shouldn’t take much time or effort at all. Hopefully with the refreshed hull this thing surfs at least as well as my 230.

Are there slalom skiers in your crowd? The surf wake on a properly weighted 230 is pretty **** hard to beat, especially if you like a LONG wake.

Nope, It’d be used primarily for surfing. I’m only considering the gs24 based on the deal I can get and the fact that it has all the new tech features that I’d want in my next boat.

My 230 surfs amazing and that’s why I won’t even consider the gs24 without a lengthy surf session behind it.

i debated long and hard between the 230 and the GS. We still ski. I skied the 230 on a demo. It was doable. The GS (22) actually seemed bigger and was obviously more updated. If we did not ski, I probably would have gone with the 230 or looked really hard at a G23. The G wasn't even a consideration since we ski.

The hull design changed in ‘19 and with a little lead in midship range my GS24 throws a great wave. Everyone who rides it is stunned. Even G owners.

where are you with all of this?? did you do the upgrade of the courtesy lighting? I am in the same chain of taughs as you are with a 2019 GS22..seems there is no color lighting but that is the one thing that i really wanted...the colors were our first set of criterias, and this one does not have the color lights, and i really want to do this once we take delivery of it...
                              SO
aside from lights, do we need a controler? how do we hook it up with Linc? do we need to change the lights already in the boat?...i am trying so much to find info about this...the boat is only comingn to us in a few weeks, and when we went to see it (private owner) the bateries were un-done for the winter...and the dealer making the deal does not really know or seems to care about it...:-(

so any info you have i would REALY appriciate

                              Thanks.
