2007 196 changes?

Anyone hear of any changes for '07? I have the price list and I dont see anything different as far as options. I have an '03 and am thinking about a new one.

Hey Mark. How was Nats? Did you see the 2007 SN? How about the new Response? Any thoughts on either?

The new 196 looks the same, the rub rail is stainless and rubber is not an option. The Response looks better, but the windshield has this big chrome 8-10 inch wide up down rail with holes in it. Can you say big blind spot. My wife could not see out of the cockpit to the right without looking through the holes.
I was running into 39 all last week, but I get out to Nats and practice, ski like crap at practice, fell at 35 off.
We need Nats in the midwest. I hate warm blue water. No excuses tho, I suck.

Dave, sorry for the hijack. Back to the SN. I like the idea of a chrome rubrail. I think the rubrail on my 196 sucks. It's so big that when it takes a hit against a dock, the screws holding it in place bend. Now its all wavy. I like the Bu rubrail. It has a lower profile so not so prone to getting bent out of shape. The chrome seems to hold up over time. Skisix's 2003 rubrail looks fine.

A friend of mine got his 03 LXi at the same time I got my 03 196. His boat barely touched mine and the screws from the rub rail scratched my boat. Plus, a I would think a stainless rub rail would certainly show dings more than a rubber one. My 03 rubber rails look perfect, minus the white streaks from rubbing against the trailer guides. I need to get some without the white lettering.

Sorry to hear didnt do so well, Mark. I plan on going next year - not a very good showing for the Eastern Reg in Mens 3 out there, this year. I wanna try the blue water!

It would be great if you could ski for a week out there, but 1 practice set will not work for me. Sam I was not there, or the east would have looked good in M3. Sam is the man.
I agree on the rubrails, I want rubber, our 06 response has a few dents in it already.

I didnt ski the Response, but I would guess they cannot improve the Slalom wake on any of the Big 3.
But I do have a new testomonial on how sweet my 196 wakes are. I pulled my neighbors kids 9 and 11, behind my 196 for the first time. They normally ski 24-28 behind the 06 response. When they got in the boat, they were all smiles and could not believe how much smaller the wake was. They both PBd. I wish I had a video to show of the reaction. It should help get a CC on the club dock.

The kids around here generally like the Response. Not taking anything away from the 196, but I'm surprised those boys noticed that big a difference.

I thought the wake behind the 2006 196 was sweet at the tourney on Sunday--although I fell around ball three. I got my first tourney pass in on Sunday--behind a 197. Didn't mind the wake behind that boat at all.

Did your wife like the way new Response drove/tracked?

Dave, those white marks will come off with a little Acetone.

Mark, I was at the tournament in Va. when Sammy dislocated his shoulder. It was a one day 3 round tournament. We were running out of time, so the third round was run like a run off. You had to go out at your last completed pass. For Sam, that would be 38off! He ran it with glare from the sun, then ran 39 with a slight tail. He had a ton of slack rounding 6ball, tried to hold on, made it though the gates then the boat yanked his shoulder out. He had dislocated it a few weeks earlier. Got taken to the hospital in an ambulance and was back the next day to fulfill his duties as scorer. Yes, Sam is the man. Me, I had to start at 35 off. Never tried going off the dock cold at 35. Didnt make it. I guess I need to practice that.

Thats 3 shoulder injuries in 1 year for Sam. He did it in the BBD, and then in Minnesota over the 4th. Thats guts.
I wouldnt want to have his style, but I will take his ball count.

Someone on the Nicholls board drove the Response. Said it was very quiet with the catalytic coverter. Little less hole shot though.

All of us here are wondering about that windshield. Kinda a weird offering IMHO.
