    2012 210 or 2018 210

Hello all. Currently in the market for a boat. I think I decided on the 210 over the GS20 due to the traditional bow, as well as the higher tower. The ski pylon on the GS20 is an attractive feature for pulling double tubes though.

Anyways my question is and I'm sure it's been answered somewhere maybe but I can't find it. Is there any real difference between a 2012 210 and I guess a 16+ 210. More of the mechanical differences. IE. engine, hull, quality. I'm considering an older 210 due to less electronics around the dash.

I believe the 2018 will have the updated LINC, a slightly better drivers seat slightly different tower, and a few other minor things. If money isn't an issue, I would get the newer one but to be honest my 2013 looks essentially the same a a new boat.

One important thing to note between the two boats above is there was a hull tweak in 2014 to address the surf wave and NSS. Also the walk through is nice. Both boats are great and the 12 will produce a respectable wave too if weighted properly. You won’t be disappointed with either.

Awesome thank you! Price is always a concern always looking for the best deal but no really I live in a state where you can't boat year round so I can't justify spending that much on a boat.

Is it safe to assume the LINC 1 hardware in 2010-11 was different than the LINC 2 hardware on the 12+ boats? When did the hardware change again after 2012?

I hope to be in the market for a keeper sometime in the next year or so, and one of the two hulls I’m considering is the 08-13 210. I’m a bit hesitant about the ‘10 and ‘11 boats with LINC 1. I’m guessing the displays are different than 12+ and I feel like getting a replacement for a two-year run of a “first try” part is going to be a really tall order when they start failing.

Yes the Linc 1 system is different than the linc 2 and it changed again in 17 I believe, with the linc panoray.

2018 brought in the LINC Panoray on the 210 and 230.

And as far as pulling tubes goes, just pull them from the tower. We've pulled three at a time before.

Just fyi. The 2012 has the reversible back seat. 2014 and newer do not.

The 2012 will have a different hull and different engine than the 2018. The 2018 210 will have better surf wake for sure. It’s noticeably better than the 08-2013 hull. In 2014 they tweaked the running surface to give the boat a better flowing surf wave with the NSS system. The added advantage that’s not really talked about a whole lot is that the low speed wakeboard wake forms up better on the 14 and up hull as well. Great if you have ton of newbs or kids. But if you’re already riding with ballast full and above 20mph it’s a non issue. If you surf at all to me it’s worth the hull upgrade if you can do it. The drivers seat is night and day more comfy in the 2018. The Updated display screens are much easier to use and toggle through than the 2012 screen. The Powerplants in the 2018 also give the boost the 210 needed. While the 343 gets the job done , it’s bit sluggish when you compare it to what was around in those years. It’s a solid bombproof engine , but the throttle response and umff when loaded up does leave me wanting more. The engine upgrade in the 2018 fills that gap.

On the flip side. I love my fully reversible seating. We use the rear facing reversible bench a ton. It’s one of the huge options that I love and quite frankly since we’ve grown to use it so much , I don’t know that if I ever upgrade I could give that up.

In my opinion the upgrades/refinement you get in the 2018 210 make it a much more user friendly experience and really turn the 210 into the most versatile 21ft boat out there. The upgrades and updates really make the boat a complete package. Will a 2012 do everything you want? ABSOLUTELY ! The 2018 will do everything better imo opinion. Really boils down to what you want to spend.

The other main difference is NSS can fully integrated on the 2012 into the LINC system. On the 07-2011’s it can be added , but it would be a stand alone system, not integrated.

Swatguy I never put that together with the slow speed wakeboard wakes. That totally makes sense! For learning new tricks that might be handy.

I wish they wouldn't have gave up the reversible bench seat. Do you know why they did? Even in the GS series this isn't an option.

It was deleted the same year the G21 hit the scene. I’‘m no expert, but I suspect it’s simply product line differentiation - premium feature for the premium boat.

From what I’ve been told they had to delete the flip rear bench due to the walkthru option. If you notice the new style flip ups on the G they’re actually stacked on top of each other til you pull out the seat. The depth/seat base height inside the 210 would not allow the rear seat to stack properly with the walkthrough and the seat would be in an awkward position. Just what I heard back then , but I can also see that being an option to get people to move to a G21 as well.

as a guy who stores all his boards in his boat. The chase lounge style access to the rear hatches on the 08-13 is also a huge bonus for me. I routinely store 3 surfboards and 4 boards in there. It makes in and out a breeze for me

Interestingly information and opinions. What were the hull changes on the wetted surface on the later boats, any pics showing the differences?
