    Lark,

There are lots of things to consider but the deciding factor for me was not having to move the boat crew from the back when I wanted to take a ski ride, so I bought the 211. The 216 wake is much better for skiing, the 211 wake is much better for boarding/surfing. The 211 is quiter inside, the 216 is quicker and handles better. The 211 is has probably 3x the storage space over the 216.

My advice: If you plan on having more than a crew of 4 go with the 211, if not go with a 216.

        lark,
where is Krum, tx. I am in Tyler and would be happy to show you my 211. I love the boat but would like more power but I am coming from a small direct drive to a larger v-drive so..... If you want to ski and ski mostly buy the 216 otherwise the 211 is a better family boat. Some people like having seperate seating areas that a direct drive provide. A v-drive does have everyone seated in clsoer proximity to the driver.

I got the ZR6 in my SV211 and it did feel a bit doggy with the Stock Acme 816. One thing to keep in mind is that my 211 weighs 3,830 and the 216 weighs only 2,990 lbs. Plus, I normally have all stock ballasts full and an additional 750-1,000 lbs. I called ACME and they told me the 536 was the way to go. They were sooo right! With the 536 the boat has great low-end now, no problem with hole shot. As far as overall handling and rough water ride, it is the smoothest and most quiet ski boat I have ever been in. The 211 is the perfect all-around family boat, which is probably why it is the best selling model for CC. My 2 cents.

I have the 216 with tthe ZR6. It only goes around 45mph but everyone that drives it that has a 330 (in a 211 or 216) thinks there is a big difference. It certainly turns without leaning as much as the 211. Abundiga will probably be able to give you more info; he has a friend with a 211.

i am just about to put money down on an 07 sv211. we tested one a couple of times.
the first time we took it out it felt very doggish. (has the 330 engine in it) our dealer said the stock prop sux on them. i took that with a grain of salt but the next time he cam out he had new prop on it. not sure where it is from he said it was locally made.
we had the ballasts full and 10 people in the boat and pulled a 210 lbs guy out on a monza slalom ski no problem. it ripped. that prop sold the boat for us. we are still getting an 07 with the zr6 but he is putting one of those props on it for us.

I would be interested to find out what prop your dealer put on the boat. Can you get some details (Diameter, Cup, Pitch, Etc.)?

Yea, totally weird, I had the same night-and-day difference when I changed my prop. Can't figure out why CC doesn't prop the 211 correctly from the beginning?

I have never had v-drive, currently we have a 05-216 and could not be happier. We taught our daughter to ski off of the boom in no time flat. It was nice being able to have her right next to you so you could instruct. I do not think you can do this with a v-drive. Fill the ballast up and add a few sacks in the trunk and you have a good wake boarding boat also. IMO this is a great all around boat for the family. Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

We have been extremely satisfied with the 211. Although I do miss the slalom wake on our '97 196, I have learned to adapt to the wake on this crossover boat. I took the advice from someone on this site and started skiing my customary 34mph but at 28 off instead of 15 off. I have been very pleased with the slalom wake now and the other benefits of the the v-drive far outweigh any desire to return to the direct drive. We have also been very pleased with the 330. Last weekend it picked up 6-17 yr olds (3 wakeboarders and 3 skiers); we turned a lot of heads on Dale Hollow Lake. We have 2 older kids and constantly have a boat full. Regarding the ability to instruct with a boom, check out the pic of our BI tower boom on our 211. It works great!

                          Hey Jeff,

Krum is about 4 miles west of I-35 on the north side of Denton. Thanks for the ride offer, if we're out in that area I'll take you up on it.

I really like the clean look of the 216 w/o the tower. For someone that has never wakeboarded before, is it very practical to wakeboard with the rope on the pole?

Not really. I'd say it depends on the riders' ability to determine if the tower really matters all that much. But, even if the rider is a super-beginner, long before you are ready to upgrade boats will the rider be wanting the extra height from the tower--I'd go for it. The nice thing about the 216 is that, IMHO, the boat still has that clean look even w/ the tower. The way its slanted, matches the slope of the windshield, etc, all makes it look very clean. If you disagree, I'm sure it will quicly grow on you...

I don't think I would own another boat without a tower unless I had it on a private lake where you ski right off the dock. A direct drive with skis/boards on the floor is not fun.
