Need help - does a GS22 suit my needs?

    Good afternoon everyone,

First time poster and I appreciate in advance your help.

I live in NE Florida. My wife really wants us to buy a boat. I don't like fishing, if I am buying a boat I want to do some activity on it (ski, wakeboard, wakesurf). I also have four young kids all under the age of 11.

I know my kids will love tubing, wakeboarding, etc. My wife likes waterskiing.

We will be in the intercoastal mostly and may occasionally tow to a lake.

We would also like to occasionally visit sandbars and just "play around" on the boat, go to a pull-up restaurant, etc.

I anticipate about 7-10 people being on the boat at once.

Is a GS22 a good option for us? I think we want a boat that can "do it all" as opposed to a boat that specializes more in wakeboarding.

I don't want to buy a GS22 and then have it not do any of the above items well, but I don't want to buy a G23/G25 and realize that we'd like to have something more versatile.

Please let me know your recommendation and if a GS22 sounds like a good choice for us. Thank you!

My thoughts are the GS22 will fit your needs perfectly, I would set up a demo first but Yes that would be a great boat for you and your family. Great all around boat that wills do anything you and your family care to do on the water. Get a coastal edition for the intercoastal

I cannot think of another boat that would be better for your needs than a GS22 or 24 if it skis the same. We really think the GS22 is still the best fit for us.

Agreed. The GS series of boats IMO are the best all around boats. Unless you are a pro level wake boarder or surfer the GS series will not disappoint.

I’m looking at a 2020 GS24. We have a centurion 230 plus 343 engine. Trying to decide on the engine they stock the H5 and I was thinking of the H6. Will be used for surf, tubing, skiing and just riding around. Kids and grandkids around 10 could be in the boat. The centurion has been great but seems like it is working pretty hard when we are loaded.
We are set up to demo the boat next week. The H6 has about 15% more torque. The GS seems to be a great all around boat.

Thanks everyone for the responses! I think I will regularly have at least 7-10 on the boat as well - is a GS22 too small?

It will be doable with 10, but if you have the space and the money a gs24 would be a bit more relaxt.

If it's only 8 (4 adults and 4 kids) the 22 will be fine. Otherwise I agree the 24 will be more comfortable.

if you have 10 people on the boat regularly, get the 24.
i have the 22 and it is great for my needs. it is such a versatile boat.
we ski in the morning when the lake is glass, then fill up and surf. often times the lake flattens out or the wind blows from the north, so then we empty and ski the course at the north end of the lake.
we swapped the pro ballast bags for wakemakers 800# bags and the surf wave is very big.
kids tube, my daughter surfs with less ballast.
overall it is a great boat.
if you only surf, get a G.
oh, and an H6 is an absolute must!!

                      H6 for sure.
They offer the supercharged engine in the 24 for a reason!
