21 vs 23 chop ride and people capacity

Would love to see a 210 with more than six people to see how a good size group fits. The 11 or 12 person rating seems very optimistic

also how does a sante 210 ride in chop and rough water as we may take it out on Minnetonka or the st croix river

so we really need a 230 for family of five?

ill add that we will primarily trailer to various lakes or occasionally keep it at our cabin so we expect to be out for hours on end since we likely won’t have a base camp

Coming from a Prostar 205 to a SAN 230, I would never go below 23 feet again. Especially if you are planning to be on the (big) water all day without a base camp.

I’ve been in pretty much all of the variations of the 210 including a Super Sport, a 2000 SAN, a 2005 SAN, and a 2010 210. I currently own a 230. The 2007+ 210 is a night and day difference in cabin space and storage room. I’ve gone out with a crew of 7 pretty comfortably there. That would not be as comfortable in any of the pre-2007 SAN 210s but even in my old Super Sport 5 was no problem.

The 230 is a whole different ballgame. It goes up to 10 or so without breaking a sweat. 13 is the most I’ve had on board at a time and even that wasn’t too bad. I’ll also echo that I’ll never go below 23’ again but for a family of 5 the newer 210 will have the space you need as long as you can pack reasonably. I’m a minimalist when it comes to what I bring with me but the 210 crew I go out with aren’t and we still have enough space for people and gear.

oh and I intentionally avoided talks of handling in chop. What I consider chop is not what you consider chop. I don’t have experience in the conditions you deal with. Our tiny DFW lakes don’t get anywhere close to as bad as Minnetonka can get.

I have an 09 230. We have a family of 4, with 2 teenagers. They often want to bring friends, and when they do, I'm really glad we have the xtra space of the 230. For the way we use the boat, I don't think I'd want anything smaller.

What years are you looking at? I have an 03 210 and we get up to 6 or so sometimes and it is not ideal honestly. The newer 210s will be "wider" to accommodate much more space, but my next boat will be 23'!

Went from a ‘15 210 to a ‘20 230 and the 230 rides much better in chop. Very noticeable improvement as our lake can get choppy between hills that break the wind. Sometimes it’s just the two of us, but often it’s 6 or 7 and the 230 makes it a lot more spacious especially with wet people swapping out surf sessions. The storage is improved, not G level, but notably better.
