Looking at buying 2006 220 TE, need advice.

I have a friend in financial trouble that is wanting only pay off for his 2006 Super Air 220 TE with ZR6 and 650 hours. The interior needs to be re-done as there is a lot of tearing and wear in the upholstery but I'm okay with that idea because then I'll know what I have and can take care of it, I've already gotten a quote from the guy that did an amazing job completely re-doing my current boat from scratch (It needed a lot, all new wood for seat backing, floor etc) to complete this one in the 6k range. The boat will need a couple minor gelcoat repairs but nothing major other than the interior overhaul. I've been researching a lot mostly on this forum and you guys seem to really know your stuff, any thoughts?

I’ve seen 220s in decent shape drop down to the low $30k. So what you’re looking at is a decent deal but not an incredible deal assuming the interior really is the only issue. My experience is that boats with bad interiors are also going to have mechanical and electrical issues. That might not be the case here but unless you’ve thoroughly gone over that end of things, I’d budget some money for it. If this goes the way I suspect it will you’ll end up spending roughly at market on a 220 and get a ZR6 upgrade and new interior out of the deal.

thanks for the input! that was my concern too initially, that if he didnt take care of the interior he likely didnt the rest. My brother is a legit mechanic and he checked ot out and likes what he sees. we also took it out on the lake and ran it a few hours to make sure everything is operational. aside from some sub par stero wiring that will redo, it seems to check out.

I think that price sets you up a fair deal and the 220 is a great boat performance wise. It’s doesn’t get the credit it deserves simply because of the interior layout. Lots of people say it’s sensitive side to side weighted up. I never really got that feeling and I am wakeboard first guy that’s been wakeboarding before that boat was even built. The ZR6 is a beast and it fits that boat perfectly.

That’s a great looking 220 from the photo. Add some more photos of the interior so we can see how good of deal you have or have to work with.

Looks pretty rough, a lot of this could be cleaned up and probably look decent short term but I would rather start fresh. I took the back cushion and door off of the bread box because the hinge needed replacing and the cushion was in bad shape, but i have them both.

At least you still have the metal and rubber pads. Those are NLA and really hard to find last I helped someone find them. My carpet looked like that on my 230 when I first bought it and the dealer replaced it with Seadek. It looks a thousand times better. You may reach out to seadek or one of their competitors instead of just getting replacement carpet.

I agree. Im looking into seadek for the whole boat, including making the section directly above the engine a seadek walk through as ive seen an owner on here do. Are you referring to the pads on the sides of the boat? im new to Nautique ownership.

Im also likely going to remove what i belive is referred to as the bread box

Quick fix. Get some Spray Nine cleaner and hit the vinyl. Use soft bristle brush or even a light magic eraser scrub. You’d be amazed at how that stuff. works . It’s mildew and mold fighters may save you

love the all white ghost boats.
