'03 SANTE.....6139hrs....Yeah the hour gauge is screwed. I must of gone through a time warp or blackhole, as it had 527 hours when we got it a couple of months ago.

When I had my boat, I knew I was putting a lot of hours on it so I would run it as little as possible. If we were changing riders or filling bags or whatever the engine was off. Is this how you do it or do you just let it idle. Just curious...

Anyway back to the question. Had mine for less than 2 years and put around 530 hours on it. If I would have been running it like some of these people do it would have definitely been in the thousands.
It depends on how long I think it will take to get people in and out. If it's a bunch of newbs I usually turn it off because I have to get up, go to the back, tell them to keep the fins off the seats, tell them again, tell them yet again. Tell them to try and not slam the skis or board into the back of the boat, tell them again, tell them ok, put them on in the water.... ect. hehe.

If it's experienced people, I leave it running. Most of the time.

        RE: Re: RE: hours

When someone is getting on or off the boat, I always turn it off. But at the dock, and just chilling on the lake waiting for something to do, I usually leave the engine on, just b/c I tend to not stay in one spot for very long. Also, whenever I dock and have to clean up the boat, I just leave it running for a sec while I have the lights on (at night), empty the tanks, have the heater on, and listen to music, just b/c that altogether draws so much power...

309 on my 85 2001. Bought it last August with 285hrs. I run it EVERY warm weather weekend, but always turn it off when changing skiiers, swimming, etc. Unlees you are running or pulling, too many things can happen if the boat is just running, and not many of them are good...just my opinion.

I think we're pushing ~960. We almost always leave the engine running unless we're parked for more than 5 minutes.

I agree that a lot of bad things can happen when leaving it running. Not to mention the rider is sitting there breathing in all the fumes. What is the theory behind the people leaving it running. Just trying to find why you would do that.
