A bit of history. I was going through my old wakelist mail archive and found this email posted in November 1999 by Mike Mclin about the SAN. I hope he doesnt mind me recycling it!

Subject: WAKE: THE BEST BOAT
A PRO THAT HAS RIDDEN EVERY SINGLE BOAT
I have ridden just about every boat possible. If you want to know the best
boats read on... I rode the whole Pro Tour this year, which was pulled by
X-Stars. I rode in Canada's Wakestock and the US Open, which was pulled by
Malibu Wakesetters. I rode in Nationals which ws pulled by the Pro Air
Nautique. I rode in Worlds which was pulled by the Super Air Nautique, and
finally I rode in Gravity Games which was pulled by the Toyota Epic 22. I
rode in the Supra Session, which was pulled by th Supra Launch. I live in
Clermont and ride with the Wakeboard Camp every once in a while, and they
have Tige Riders Editions over there. So I have ridden behind every type of
high performance wakeboard boat. The best boat (I'm talking about "wake",
not steering, interior, power, or anything else)based on wake is...
The Super Air Nautique, followed by the Malibu Wakesetter. The biggest
dissapointment was the Toyota Epic (Toyota just came into boating, and they
are currently fixing all the problems and flaws, and will most likely have a
good boat next year). The biggest pleasant surprise was the Supra Launch (it
makes a great wake for the money). I am NOT sponsored by any boat company,
so these ratings aren't biased. They are the truth.
