Need advice on model selection - g21? Gs22?

Hey guys, newby here so forgive the dumb questions. We want a nautique but have some challenges and having a hard time deciding which model - have three college-aged kids who all like to surf, may wakeboard once in a bluemoon, no ski, and momma and I like to cruise around. Crazy boat market to buy in, but we just bought a house with a skip and my kids are all over me...

Main challenge - ‘’our dock is in a tight canal with a low bridge we have to go under, so any tower has to come down. Every time. And then be able to drive under the bridge. Started looking for a newer g series bc of the power tower Nd steering assist, but wondering if a gs or 230 might be manageable in this situation? I’ve not seen them with steering assist - is it an option, or just on the g series?

Is there any surf-able boat out there that doesn’t have a tower at all? Could you(gasp!) just remove the tower? Hard to believe how all, these boats seem to collapse the tower into the drivers space so you then can’t drive. Mastercraft and new g boats fold back and this fix this problem. But still a hassle.

weve tested and are close to buying a 2019 g21. Z4 engine 410 horse. Love the styling, but a bit cramped. And in our test day, the boat seemed like a soggy duck when trying to get on plane with ballasts full, not surfing just running about. At one point I got to drive, and I couldn’t get it above about 16 mph. Figure this was a setting, but could this be normal? Is the z4 engine underpowered? The g21 checks my boxes for size, weight, power tower, and steering assist. Will I end up happy with it? Should I consider a gs or 230 instead?

slip is also tight, and lift has 6000 lb capacity, so I’ve resisted temptation for a g23. Would probably have to upgrade my lift if I did one. And would have to do new bc of the tower/bridge issue. And getting in and out would presumably be worse with an extra 2 feet?

    ‘’any advice appreciated - g21 v. G23. V 230 or a gs22... how’s that for narrowing it down?

    Thanks guys!

Im not much help, but I’m a new g23 owner and the actuated tower folds back and makes it easy to go through culverts. I’ve noticed I need to drop mine often whereas other boats (Mc, Malibu, centurion) don’t have to. It’s the tip where the rear camera is housed that sticks up like 6”. That said, it’s easy to lower and drive the boat through the culvert. I have the 450hp and no issues with power or planing.

We almost got a g21 as it was a leftover 19 for about 117 I think it was. We have two boys 9 and 12 and after the first week at the lake with them and a friend, we r glad we went with the bigger 23. The bow of the g21 is shorter and I couldn’t sit there with my legs straight in it (6’ 1”). You would certainly need 8k lift motors though. The steering assist is very nice for a first time v drive owner like myself...especially docking. Good luck!
