The boat is awesome, I mean they nailed it on the redesign, the bottom hull is exactly like the paragon. The surf tabs are huge now, as they are on the paragon, the rear seats are way more comfortable then the 2020 G series with more lean back also, the speakers are 7.7 now in the cabin area. They didnt have it rigged yet so I am going back tomorrow to see the whole thing inside and out. I will report back with more details tomorrow afternoon, but you can rest assured it is awesome.
Curious to know what your thoughts were after seeing it inside and out?

I looked at one at my local dealer hoping it'd make me want to jump off the ledge and upgrade from my '18 ... I was not impressed. Obviously, the new hull is a big deal and why I want it. The rear seats, new cockpit seat design and new vinyl designs look and feel great. The new glove box and rear cooler doors have also been improved. Unfortunately, so many other things seem rushed and overall it needs lots of refinement. It literally feels like a cheap Paragon ... whereas the 20, 19 and 18 do not feel cheap at all. Perhaps the most disappointing is the communicating storage now has ballast overflow lines running right up thru the middle of them. WTH? It looks terrible and is just bad design. Why is the battery switch now inconveniently located under the floor in place of the starboard side battery which was relocated under the love seat ... thus removing the most incredible storage cavity in the boat. So many other little things I don't even know how to describe. It's like when I get into other boats at the boat show and they just feel cheap and wonder what were they thinking. Maybe I'm hard to please, but I think many are going to be disappointed once their orders arrive.

I understand the notes you've made which you think are poor design choices e.g. battery location, overflow line poorly placed (sounds like this needed to be zip tied out of the way)

What parts/items felt cheap? Were there unfinished edges, thin or loose plastic pieces?

When I saw the one my dealer had it hadnt been prepped yet so I wasnt able to check out the locker and storage but I dont feel as if the boat felt cheap at all. I liked the design change, new viynl designs and seating changes. I was going to go back by today now that they have it prepped to really go through the boat. I dont see many people being disappointed, that would be hard for nautique to do in my opinion but I guess we will see when they start to show up.

There's no fix for the overflow lines. On each side between back seat and rear locker ...there is a brass fitting going straight through the floor probably a third of the way across from outside of hull ... it's permanent.

Nothing physically felt cheap. It's more that some of the visual design changes are not as refined as previous design. It just feels like a purposely dumbed-down Paragon ... rather than the flagship it once was.

At first glance it does look great. But the more time you spend inside ... the more you start to notice things ... at least I did. I REALLY want to want one. I absolutely love the Paragon after spending several hours on the lake in one. I was disappointed about losing the love seat storage, but thought the updates would make me overlook that. I anticipated coming home and negotiating with my wife on trading in our '18 that we love ... but sadly I have no desire to upgrade now.

I myself wanted to be similar to the paragon but its also 100k less than a paragon, so sadly as you say its not the flagship anymore, however, I agree with you, for the price increase it should in no way feel like a dumbed down paragon. I guess I will have to wait and see as mine should arrive within a couple weeks.

Now I really want to see one in person before I order to see if I get that same vibe...or will this Paragon Lite G23 be enough to move out of my solid G21. I believe Jasander77 is giving an honest opinion about what he sees...and yeah....little stuff like mentioned might bother others also. Thanks for the insight.

The price increase is what I struggle with most combined with my impressions. Granted the boat I saw is probably one of the first built. It did have obvious QC issues. For one ... the fuse panel under helm was not installed straight. There was at least a 1.5" difference from one end to the other. The fuse panel in promo pics is straight and square with underside of helm. Pretty sure I couldn't live with that if it were mine ... not sure if it's even fixable.

One simple example of rushing the release ... the cockpit is now a couple inches wider. The bow is also several inches shorter btw. However, the existing towers are still the same width ... therefore they do not sit centered on the decking. The inner edge of base overhangs the vinyl. Easily seen in the marketing pics on Nautique site ... power tower looks like an inch of overhang ... Flight Control tower probably a half inch. You can also see the overflow coming thru floor in the marketing pic with seat lifted ... just seems like they could have come up with a more discrete solution.

Looking at the Paragon marketing pics ... many of my aesthetic dislikes are present in the Paragon. However, there are so many other great details throughout that boat my dislikes all seem to disappear. Strip all those finer details away ... you get a bland new G23 at a hefty price increase.

The best way I can describe it is when I look at the machined metal details in Mastercraft and Malibu ... they lack refinement and it just doesn't look as good as what Nautique has done for many years. Overall, the 2021 gives me that same feeling when I look at it inside and out compared to the previous design. Those that don't understand that analogy will be more than happy with this release.
