Update to my question - I have about 17 hours on my 2021 G23 with the ZZ6 standard motor and I love it! It feels like it has more power than my previous boat! I am very happy with my choice!
I have the ZZ6 in my 2021 G23 here in Central Florida and it has plenty of power both loaded and with extra ballast. The only thing I noticed from my 19 G23 to the 2021 is the motor is way louder under load, It just seem less insulated than the 19 did.
I demoed both ZZ6 and ZR7, and while I'm at sea level most of the time, I do take the boat to Tahoe and Lake Powell once a year. So after wrestling with the substantive price increase - I went with the ZR7. Boat shows up in 3 weeks, so hopefully made a good choice!
If it helps we have been taking out a 2021 G23 with the ZZ6. My son wakeboards. It's usually just me and him and maybe 2-3 more people and we fill up the stock ballast and also have two 400lb fly high sacs in the back compartments (800lbs total) and then another 500-600 in the the walkway leading to the bow It's a 750lbs sac but don't think it fills all the way. So I'd say its another 1400 lbs total added to the factory ballast and sometimes 2-3 people in the boat when he rides. The boat does great pulling up on plain. No issues. Very pleased with the power of the ZZ6. I can't tell much difference in fuel usage vs previous year model Gs.

The price increase is way more than i expected. over 20 grand? Am is seeing that correctly ? I really don't see how that is possible , it already comes with an engine and transmission (zz6) don't you get credit for that?
Standard engine is the ZZ6, at no additional cost.
ZR7 (475 HP 7.4L) is a $12,953 option.
ZZ8 (600 HP 6.2L SC) is a $25,910 option.
Those are MSRP prices, and are for regular, not Coastal, engines.

just hard to believe that zz6 to zz8 is 26 grand more (more like 21 grand when dealing) . It like buying another engine without getting credit for zz6. IDK maybe these motors cost way more than i thought.
Putting in my order for 2022 G23 this week with supplemental balast and heavy telescoping tower. Now that you have some experience will the zz6 handle it ok? Mostly 4 person wakeboarding crew. Sometimes 8-9. Thanks
Don't get me wrong, I agree it's totally unreasonable... but the difference is not only in the engine is all I was trying to say, thus there are other expenses too.
