    Air conditioning

    Go easy on me....

Someone explain, with these powerful motors we have now, and all the extra space in engine compartments, why couldnÂ’t we have an air conditioning system with a few vents for the driver and passenger seat? It seems like it has to be possible, and IÂ’d rather pay 10k (I think IÂ’m overestimating based on car costs) for it in my boat than a power tower or thruster.

The new Malibu tower mist system (kinda dumb IMO?) got me thinking itÂ’s time...

I like what your thinking LOL, I’m in California and 100 plus outside at least give me the option for a cold air fan in the drivers seat To stop the sweaty back even with the towel. Let’s see the rash of s*** your going to get for asking, as we all know you just need to jump in the water but, with a bunch of kids you tend to stay in the drivers seat for a long time

I think we’ll see AC seats soon enough.

Personally I think the Malibu tower mister is genius!

To clarify, I’m thinking the main benefit is just a cool feeling while you’re “stuck” driving for a while. Obviously it won’t keep you cold like a car.

I like to drive with my truck windows down in Georgia heat with the ac blasting, and the AC makes it a nice experience...

Rent a Wrangler some time, take the top and doors off, and see how much that air conditioner helps. Not at all. I accidentally had mine on for an entire week of no top, no doors and didn’t notice. For some reason heat sticks around more than AC.

great idea - especially for us in the steamy south! would require a cabin of some sort but not much unlike all of the charter deep sea fishing boats on the coast!

I don’t think a cabin is necessary....just strong fans with cool dry air blowing from dash and under steering wheel. So instead of a hot breeze while driving, you’re getting a little help from the AC. Just like the heater systems work.

That's funny...you don't know how many times over the years i've said....Dam....I need to get a misting system...seriously. Didn't know Malibu offered one. Not sure how it is in Georgia...but down here in South Texas, it wouldn't be a bad thing to have. It was 103 in the shade for 4 days straight a few weeks ago. Thank God for a little breeze on the water.....

I think AC would work especially when sitting in hot weather waiting for riders to get ready or situate in the water. Getting some cool air at least moving around the driver would be great.

What ever happened to just jumping in the water when you’re hot?

The mister systems are a pain in the ***. The tips clog up all the time so its high maintenance. I think the chilled seat thing might be the way to go. What the power draw on it? What about just having cold beverage?

Ford uses a TED (Thermal Electric Device) in the F150s to heat and cool seats. Seems like it'd be an easy thing to incorporate. They don't work as well as the ventilated seats my wife has in her car, but you can definitely feel the coolness and it doesn't require a whole AC system.
