    Walk-Thru Transom on Air 226

Anyone have experience with a walk-thru transom like the one in the Air 226? I'm thinking it would make manuvering around the boat a lot easier especially for an older dude like myself who's not quite as limber as he used to be. On the other had my wife sees these issues:
    • Cuts into the sunpad.
    • Eliminates one seat.
    • Hard to keep that passageway clean.
Any thoughts on whether the pros outweigh the cons?

That carpet snaps in and out on the walkthrough there so the carpet will be easy to keep clean. You won't have cuts into the sunpad with the walk through. Not sure why it would be hard to keep the passageway clean. There is a little half seat for the boat. It might not be the most comfortable but it is there.

It really depends on how you look at it. Coming from the 210, the 226 has plenty of sundeck space for your wife to lay out, the thing is huge. If you plan on keeping the boat for a while, it helps with keeping the vinyl new. As far as losing an extra seat, if you really plan on carrying 12 and want an extra seat, there is always the jumpseat that comes standard on the TE. As far as keeping it clean, I believe there is no carpet, if there is it is removable. So cleaning it shouldn't be a problem.

This is what I don't like about the walkthrough transom. I am unable to effectively use that walkthrough space to put extra ballast in as far as making it even on both sides. :P It also kinda looks funny to me (from the 210) a little lopsided.

Other than that, because the boat is designed so well as far as use of space, and the amount of people it can hold, and stuff it can store, as well as the size of the sun-deck, I don't see the problem with it.
