    What boat/year is this?

I came across this on FB Marketplace and I feel like the seller has the year wrong... I’ve only been researching my boat purchase for a couple of weeks, but I don’t think they made a vdrive in ‘95, or an air nautique. Could someone tell me what year it is (the seller insists it is a ‘95, so I might be wrong!)?

    his description:
    1995 nautique super sport/super air 210

New Roswell avatar tower last year

Runs great never had any problems

Single axle trailer with folding tongue and new rims and tires

    1184 hours

    351 gt40 motor

Everything works except the depth finder

    Has hydrophase gps speed control

$22,000 o.b.o no lowballs or trades

Selling to buy a new boat

That is a 1995 Super Sport. The Air moniker didn’t come until later. He’s missing a back cushion. It’s the first year of the super sport, which is kind of a replacement for the v-drive Excel. It has the same hull as any pre-2006 SAN 210. Any ballast would be aftermarket along with the tower. You can read more about it in the 95 Brochure which I’m pretty sure is linked around here somewhere.

Oh, and that’s not a $22k boat under normal circumstances. I bought mine for $16k in great shape and sold it a year later for $16k when I got my 230. I wouldn’t go above $18k on one at this point unless you just really want something now.

Really appreciate that insight! Thanks! It’s pretty high in hours, so yeah, wouldn’t go near his price. Amazing looking boat though.

I might add the opinion that I don't think it is overpriced because of the hours, it is overpriced because of what it is: a 25 year old boat.

I am finding that there are many people who heard the boat market was hot and put their boats up for stupid high prices hoping someone will bite. I personally believe that ship sailed about 6 weeks ago. I am not sure this boat is 'stupid high' but you get the idea of the mentality I suspect many of these sellers have right now.

I will second what TRR said. I have been watching the used tournament boat market for a few months and it is definitely slowing down and there have been a bunch of guys trying to sell but when they don’t get the 5K over NADA they decide not to sell.

So it sounds like I’m waiting until after Labor Day or potentially next year to find a boat huh? Too bad but hate to overpay!

                thank you both!

Yeah, the hours are actually good. Too bad they’re not real. I’d bet money the hour meter is broken and Ford doesn’t store hours in the ECU like GM does. No telling how many hours it really has. It’s strictly age that knocks down the value.

I just got back in the market for a Nautique. I looked at a boat today and the person selling was pretty firm on the price. He had other interest, so he might get his price. There are many items that are selling quickly and above their value due to the current market (boats, RVs, homes, etc.). It's good to hear that it might be cooling down. I'm going to keep an eye out, but might have to wait until temps cools down.

This boat likely has a GT-40 (FORD 351W) and you are correct, Engine hours were not stored in the ECU. They were stored in the analogue hourmeter which ran anytime the ignition was on even if the engine was off to play radio.

That does appear to be a 95' SS

If that is 'true' hours, and the boat is immaculate and includes a good trailer, imo - it's not stupid high for the asking price, but a little bit high...

Based on my personal experience, that boat is WAY overpriced for the condition and hours. I just picked up an extremely clean all original 95 ss gt40 with 550 hours for significantly less. Trailer included.
