    Lifting Rings

    Has anyone used the lifting rings (one at the bow and one at the stern) to hoist a 1997 Ski Nautique open bow? I have a boat hoist that was designed to lift a 1986 Ski Nautique 2001 model and worked perfectly for 25 yrs. I am about to modify the hoist to the new dimensions of the lifting rings for the 1997 open bow. Anyone aware of any concerns before I modify the hoist and spend about 2K to do so? Thanks for your replies

    No concerns. The boat is designed to be lifted from those rings. If you're going to spend $2K, wouldn't that cover the cost to just convert it to a cradle anyway?

      No issues with lifting from the rings but I would recommend getting a doozie cradle lift. They probably have retrofits to convert over. It is a lot nicer when you want to work in the boat and not have it rocking all over the place!

        Thanks for the feedback on the lifting rings. I should have also mentioned that water depth in this slip/boathouse setup is an issue and not quite deep enough for a cradle system. Really appreciate the thoughts so quickly.
        The hoist is a custom design by 2 friends and they are able to make the modifications (and my wife is paying )

          How deep is your slip?

            It’s about 3 feet deep but it can vary some and the bottom is granite and limestone so no way to dredge out. This boathouse is in Ontario Canada.

              Ok, that does make more sense. Keep in mind that the rear cradle is the one that clears the fins, so that is the one that needs to be deeper. I would say at my family's lakehouse the front of the slip is no deeper than 3ft. The rear is about 3.5-4 feet. If you want I can have someone measure the depth of the slip at the cradle locations. If it is easier for you, by all means lift from the rings though. As others mentioned it is perfectly safe to lift from them.
