Strap vs Strapless Board Racks

Any preferences on Nautique strap board racks vs the strapless board racks?

Ordering a 2021 G23, and strap racks are standard. Strapless are a $2200 upgrade.

It should be a crime that they sell a product that by design will put shatters in your $1000 surfboard.

What? Ive have several strapless racks and never had a single issue woth damage to boards. What happened to yours?

Agree with Mikenbike211. Love our strapless racks. Holds any board I put up there and wet boards drip outside of the boat.

Definitely wish I had sprung for the strapless upgrade on my '20.

You can also look into the newer PTM clamping racks. I will be switching to them over the off season. The lack of side visibility when both racks are loaded is somewhat annoying.

The only thing that I have seen with the strapless racks is that some of the 19 and 20 model boats have a shorter tower and when you put a bigger surfboard in them and turn the rack in to the boat.....................it can be tall enough to hit the speaker hanging down from the tower. Happened to a friend of mine on his 19 GS22 and he finally switched back to standard racks.

We have had two boards get shatters or compression cracking from the bungee strap racks that come standard with the boat. Not the strapless ones. I have to put those two boards in the surf pockets. The old or cheaper boards don’t seem to suffer from this problem.
