Dumbest Options Available

Was looking at the new Malibu M220 on the manufacturer site and saw an option they offer is an electronic mister mounted under the tower to "cool off your crew during those long summer days".

Got me thinking...what are in your opinion some of the worst, dumbest, over the top, quirkiest, cheesiest tow-boat options on the market today or anytime for that matter.

I'll start with the "SURF" graphics that were previously available for the G. Just....no....

I'll hold comment on the mister option, but I hated those SURF graphics. Especially if the color of the hull was light and the stripe was dark (or the other way around). It looked like the boats only said either "SU" or "RF" on the sides.

Some center consoles offered a mister 4-5 years ago, so not new to boat.

Oh my, I'll keep my comments to myself... Very interested to see where this goes. I'm waiting for the old digital gauges, keyless entry, touchscreen bashing (not that I'm a big fan myself).

Definitely has it's haters but that stuff is driven by technological advances and also not optional at this point. Like being annoyed almost all new cars are automatics over manual transmissions.

I'm talking just like "Is that really of any use?" The $,1000 table is a good example.

Or the full coverage bimini camper thingy on the Paragon. C'mon...that thing is ridiculous.

Sorry if I'm offending but after-all it's just "stuff". And if you pulled up to the sandbar, put out your full coverage bimini and then "misted" yourself under your tower. I would very much have a laugh.

I get where you're coming from, but you've got to understand that there is a big difference in bimini use in New Hampshire and, like, Texas or Florida for example. I ordered the sun shades on my new G for 2021. Not sure if I will ever use them. We'll see.

Yep....a mister and extended biminis are not that bad of an option down here in Texas. Unbelievably hot this last few weeks down here in San Antonio area. Mister would definitely come into play between sets in 107 degree weather. You can't always just "Jump In' when you want to cool when someone is surfing or boarding. Would I ever get it? Not sure...but someone will. Many of the bow riders and center consoles down here have extended biminis with poles. Comes in handy when hanging out at the sand bar or anchored at party cove with the gang.

I personally think thrusters are pointless, but see the reason for some people to have them.
Lighted cup holders, speakers, etc nice accessories if all you want to do is look cool at the dock, but serve no real purpose IMHO.
$300k price tags for some of these boats...

My boat just needs to do what it was built for... and it does that well without too much needless extra frills. I'll stick with my 2003 SANTE and be quite content thank you!

Yeah Jason...hear you. Fun and exercise know no price tag....so the same fun and exercise can be had in and behind both a 2003 and a 2020 Nautique....although i do like where the boats have come in 20 years. I'm talking how easy and fast it is to make a surf wave in my 2015 G21 as opposed to my 2000 Super Air. Boat stays less cluttered and I can accommodate lefties or righties at the snap of a finger. Wake boarding...not too much different. Not saying it's "better"....just a lot easier to do things with my newer boat than my old. All the rest of the fluff is just that...but some of it I wouldn't leave off the boat. For example...you would not believe how much fun and memories we had using the underwater lights to go "minnow netting" off the platform when my girls and their friends were little. We would back up to the shore, shut the boat and the kids would scoop up fish and put them in a bucket. Catch and release...of course. They are a little more grown now....and we still do it every once in a while...but man...the fun times we had!! Couldn't do this without the underwater lights on the boat. Just one example of an option someone might question.
