During a wildfire if you had to evacuate would you take your boat or leave it behind?

Leave it. As much as we treat them like family, it can be replaced. I'd be grabbing my fireproof lock boxes which holds all my negatives, archived family videos / pics and important documents.
Plus towing while trying to get the **** out could be a big hindrance. If you had to cut through a field or the side of a hill, you'd be leaving that boat behind anyway.
I hope I never have to face this and my thoughts go out to those who do or have in the past.

Leave it.
I live 2 miles from the origin of the Almeda fire in southern OR. The howling winds took it away from my house though so we were never in any real danger. I've been planning to take my boat out of the water this week though and I did move my trailer out of the field onto the driveway so as to make it less likely to lose it should another fire come along. Our lake freezes and if I lost my trailer, I'd have a pretty hard time getting it out of the water I think. This was the view from my driveway when it started.

Agree. When they deplete funds for forest management and build homes in the urban interface, this is bound to happen. imo

The Almeda fire destroyed thousands of residences and displaced 1/2 the kids in 2 school districts. It went straight up Interstate 5 along a large creek in a semi rural/completely urban area. It was NOT a home/forest interface issue.

I dont think I would leave my house. Send my wife and kids packing and I would probably stay and try to defend my house.
My community is stucco and tile roofs with no trees. Not like we would go up like match sticks. And I live at the lake so pretty easy to jump in the water if it burns.
Boats insured.....but it also floats and I can launch it pretty quick, plus its either in the water or attached to the truck already. Take me longer to unload it then it would to launch it.
But at the end of the day there is hundreds of variables to consider.
