We have a sale pending on a 2020 P23....

Love everything about this boat. Except that the Bimini has to be either all the way up or all the way down.

So first off is this true? Coming from dealer so I'm assuming yes.

And the obvious questions, is it that serious? Do some of you run it in between?

Or is there anybody that has figured out a way to modify it so you can have settings in between up and down?

If you are referring to the tower (that the Bimini is hard mounted to) you can run the tower at any height from full up to full down or anywhere in between. There are numerous videos on Youtube that show it as well.

I've seen videos that show it going up and down. Ive put it up and down at the demo.

But sales rep said there was a bulletin from Nautique that specifically specifies tower(thanks) has to either be all the way up or all the way down.

Are you sure it can be anywhere in range?

Well, I have not seen that, but I'm still in the process of ordering my P23 so I dunno. I'm just going off what I've seen in every video about the P23.

I agree ive watched every video on YouTube I could find.....Never a mention of this

But thinking about it they all where either all the way up, all the way down, or traveling with it going up or down. I dont recall seeing any videos with it in the middle somewhere....

And if this is the case its super disappointing....

Nautique has always said that it should only be used to tow a rider all the way up or all the way down. They talked about this at the release at the dealer meeting at Callaway when the Paragon came out. If you're not pulling a rider, I would think you could set it wherever you want it.

What Jeff says makes sense. It seems it would need to 'lock' in place or something similar to allow a consistent stress point, maybe engineered as such. Don't think it would be good for the mechanism that runs it to be operating while having the stress from a rider pulling. Idling around and operating it, shouldn't be cause for concern imo.

So we have about 120 hours on our 2021 Paragon. The manual and the warning stickers state that the boat should only be operated with the tower in the full lock up or down position when underway. In choppy water with heavy wind if the tower is not full up or down it can move around when the boat is bouncing in rough water. However when the water is calm or at surf speed we operate with the tower in nearly any position and it is solid. But when we select "back to dock" especially in bumpy water it gets locked up or down.
