Let's face it, for a lot of people buying these new boats with whatever fad color, they'll probably only be 2 or 3 year owners. 5 years at the most I'd say in 80%+ of them. With that type of turnover unless they get stuck on the very tail of a fad they'll be out these boats before the fad wears thin. It's when the boat's 8 - 10 years old that fads like the teals, pinks and purples really showed their age.
It's also not like this is something new. Sea Ray Monaco's and Reinell's in the 80s all the way into the mid 90s were thick into brown and tan interiors. I remember being just about to pull the trigger on a new 84 185 Monaco with a 260 Merc that had a brown and tan interior. Incredible family runabout at the time and that interior really made the boat look upscale. That was also back when 260HP in a 19' boat was considered hot. Boy how things have changed on what HP that is considered normal.
Anyone want to take bets that teal, pink or purple makes a come back?

I went big on Reef Blue this year (kind of like teal), and I love it right now. I wonder how this boat color will hold over time. I did Reef Blue Metal Flake on the outside, reef blue on the interior deck, and even reef blue vinyl. It may be a bit much. We'll see!
The black SeaDek that's going in will break up the Reef Blue some I think.

Hey, I had a 89 light graphite (dove grey) hull with pastel pink and teal accent strips MC TriStar 190. Sounds crazy now but it was very striking and I loved it. That reef blue kind of has that pastel flavor, feels like summer just looking at it and who has a problem with summer in the winter?????

Brown to me was a trend started to match the wood emulation of sea deck. I think brown is ugly and it will not age well. I will always be a fan of white in a boat because it does not get hot. If I ever move from florida to Canada I may switch for the warming appeal. Now try to explain to me why black was ever a thing.

As such, though I know it is now commonplace in auto interiors and Nautiques (and looks great in both), I couldn’t personally do this. I’m not ancient (I don’t think at 54), but If I have anthracite Sea Deck, then my interior can include any color but brown. Again, I see more with brown than without; there is no need to submit pics showing such. I get that I’m a stick in the mud...
I went and bought a couple of new suits and other related clothes earlier this year, to include some grey pants (I was way overdue). At any rate, the 30 something salesman talked me into buying some brown shoes as well, and laughed at my no grey/brown rule; of course, mixing these two came from his generation. Given the pandemic, I haven’t worn or had the need to wear these clothes, but don’t know if I’ll ever mix the two, just as I’ll never used to the new meanings of words that have been adapted in the last twenty years. It isn’t a “hash tag”, it is a pound or number sign, period... Signed, the old man...

A 20 year old well-maintained primarily white interior boat will age to be a "classic".
A 20 year old well-maintained boat in other fad colors will be just be an "old boat".
