Some Interesting Information About New Boat Availability in 2021

Here's Matt Santomenna, owner of Race City Marine here in the Lake Norman area. He's building a new facility, and in this video, he gives some interesting information about the state of new boat inventory for 2021, including the fact that some Nautique dealers have already sold out their entire 2021 allotments!

Wow! Good time to be a seller, bend over to be a buyer. I guess you could sell now and sit out for a year or two if you want to optimize your Benjamin’s. My local dealer that sells PWC’s was completely sold out of inventory by May this year and literally had people fighting over who got the last jet ski. After doing some market research, I found out I can sell my 2015 230 for at least what I paid for it in 2015. Not bad. I just don’t want to go without for long. Looks like I’m gonna sit tight.

Aw man... Looks like I got my wings clipped and my post edited for telling the truth about why the market is what it is. That happened quick too. Oh well. I've never spoken about any politics once in over 15 years of being here, but what I said was plain truth. Not politics. This current seller's market is directly related to the shutdowns. The pendulum will swing back for sure and correct the market without a doubt. Let's see if this post is allowed to stand.....

I agree that the pendulum will definitely swing back. It is definitely an interesting time! I have seen dealers go through some really rough periods before, but I have never seen sales as good for them as they have been this year. I just wish the factory could keep up with demand. It is a good thing they did that expansion a couple of years back!

I know when we started the order for our new boat we were told that our dealer had slots starting in Jan-Feb (this was like August I think), and when we decided and secured our build slot in October they said it would be March for the P23 we ordered but if we wanted a G23 it would be May at the earliest and they only had a couple of slots left for the 2021 boats.

I ordered the 2021 PN G23 in July, and it won't be complete until mid-December. This problem isn't new, but it is important to get the info out to people who may want to order a boat for summer of 2021 and may not be aware. Granted, since I had a boat already, mine wasn't put into the first available slot, and I am totally fine with that.

This is definitely helping the used market as well. I'll have to see what the lock down will look like in the spring as I was planing to sell the boat last spring but the family put the breaks on that. Wouldn't mind taking another run at selling this spring if the prices are still up.

I’m coming from a Malibu and have a G23 on order placed in mid-Oct. When you refer to 2021 allotments, is that calendar year 2021 or model year 2021?

I would think it's for the model year and would assume the 2022's would start hitting dealers around September ish of next year with new allocations being available for them. Did your dealer give you a time frame on your G23 order?

They are hoping for the end of May. But with supply-chains still recovering, no commitments. I’m planning on stopping in the dealer in the next two weeks and hoping to learn more.
