Center Engine, V-Drive, Super Sport, or Open Bow??

I'm trying to determine what to buy in a 93 - 97 model year. I have experience in the standard center engine boat and have concerns about the driveability/handling of the others.

Can I get some feedback from experienced owners?

    Thanks!

V-drives won't handle as good as a DD, but are close.

DDs don't have the interior space the V-drives have.

The wakes on the DD will be softer and not as big as a V-drive.

Slow speed handling is the same, lousy on both.

IMHO, the handling is so close that would not be my deciding factor.

I would base my decision on the wake and the space needs inside the boat.

I have a 97 super sport that is equipped with a V drive and I can't see ever going back to direct drive. The room is the factor. You don't have to trip over the engine box each time you are going to the back, plus from a safety setup when you are checking to make sure the water is running through the filter you don't have to watch yourself on the belts. I am comparing a 1987 Martinque and 91 Mastercraft Prostar 190 to my direct drive experience

after owning a SV-211, Air/Sport Nautiques, Ski Nautique, Martinique, and now a 1999 Super Sport, i would go for a V-Drive for space and a Ski Nautque for skiability. If you dont slalom, go with a V-Drive, they are much better for the entertainment factor.

The space in a V-Drive is great. I have 5 in my family and we go all day. I slalom behind my v-drive and it works fine. Its all in what your looking for.
