2 Questions: Weight of Actuated tower vs non; cost of new trailer for G23?

    1. Anyone know how much more the actuated tower weighs? Wondering if it reasonably adds some weight to a new G23.
    2. Also how much does the trailer typically cost? Trying to understand the package deal my guy is quoting me.

I would estimate that the actuated tower is nearly 200lbs heavier than the non -actuated tower. That's about how much weight we had to add when moving from our 2018 G with an actuated tower to the next year where we could order the non-actuated. It does impact the wave.

Thanks. That’s what I was looking for and I’m trying to decide which one to get. We hardly ever fold our tower so I certainly don’t need the actuated tower but that the extra weight might help. Worth getting for that or just buy some lead? Still having a hard time pulling the trigger on a new G 23 that I still have to add lead to.

If it makes you feel any better one has to add lead or extra ballast to nearly every surf boat. Boats are certified for a maximum weight for which the craft can be safely operated in any "reasonable" condition. Boat manufacturers would prefer to advertise that the boat can seat as many people as possible too. The last variable left is ballast, which is where compromises are often made. So unless you operate a G23 with 16 people on board you could have a better wave by adding weight. And with weight you can also optimize the wave with proper placement. Plus, 200 lbs of lead are way cheaper than the actuated tower...
