garbage chute for 2012 230 ideas

We have a 2012 230 SANTE and the walkthrough area has a bungee style mesh storage pocket that is stretched out from previous owner.
Wondering if anyone has redone this area on the passenger side of the walkthrough to create a chute or hatch to place a garbage can in under the passenger seat, something to replicate the newer models. (Picture Below)
I would like to remove that mesh storage pocket and build a hinged door such as the newer models have.
Found this chute on Nautique Parts, but would like to see if anyone has better ideas.

A trash can was a factory option. My 2011 230 has one. Here’s a thread on it. https://www.planetnautique.com/vb5/f...sh-can-feature

ID:	632491 You could also turn it into a vent for a nice set of subs.

markj is that pre-preg carbon sheet?? What were you closing up or changing up on that walk through?
To the OP, your era of 230 is similar to my '08 which has a tilt out trash can, it's ok, if your boat has the mesh, you could get the whole panel padded and upholstered and then add the trash chute door. I would do it this way as opposed to the whole can tilting out.

It was all about venting the subs that were beating the crap out of my back when I sat down in the observer’s seat. If you have powerful subs, they gotta breathe big time or they will shake your boat all over. I found some aluminum sheet with holes and had it powder coated matte black to cover up the newly enlarged hole that was cut in the walk through. Then I had an upholstery shop take the existing upholstered panel off, cut a hole much larger than the garbage door and reupholster it. The whole subs vs a garbage can was a short debate in my head.
