Locker on the 1994 Sport Nautique

    Hi,

Can someone please post detailed photos of the storage locker on a 1994 Sport Nautique? Actually any large photos of the storage available on the 1994 Sport Nautique would be appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Erik

RE: Locker on the 1994 Sport Nautique

Well - for starters let me explain something. This is kind of funny.

I am in the middle of what has turned out to be a scam - and at this point I am just messing with the person seeing how they are going to play this - but last night at about midnight I was pacing around my house wringing my hands and almost giggling, hoping that I had just successfully purchased a 1994 Sport Nautique with 368 hours on it ....for less than $6000. Insanity. I was so excited - thinking I found, and jumped on, the deal of a lifetime.

Everything "seemed" like a perfectly legit situation. Excellent reputation on eBay, solid history, good communication... but soon the auction ended and I received notice that the eBay account in question had been hijacked. I didn't get duped per se', but I sure did get excited! The person running the scam is still writing back and forth with me - it is very amusing. They even sent some decent photos - the thing is a beaut.

So - anyway I am not sure that I don't still want to get a Sport Nautique some day. I was wondering if I can fit a full size belly tank in there. I was just hoping to get some information about how people are loading them down - and how much out-of-sight weight a person can put in an early Sport Nautique. Thanks for your reply, by the way.

This "potential" scammer is extra persistent.

I am not entirely convinced that this is over. It is fun. I would say that this is still a developing story.

You can get the 400lb locker bag in the center. After that you need to have lead/steel hidden around the boat if you don't want to walk on ballast bags. But there are lots of places to put it.

You can get a very nice wake out of that hull.

If you still want pictures of the locker I can take and post some.

Thank you very much for the information. I have heard great things about the wake on that boat. Very nice.

We loaded a regular size ski locker sac in ours (it's a really big locker) and had sacs and some lead in various spots around the boat. We also skied alot so the lead was a problem in the rear (which is about the only thing you can fit under the seats or behind them). If you're just boarding there are alot of places to put solid weight. The hull is the same as the SS and SAN through last year. We could make a really good wake when we slammed it. Alaround good boat. I miss it sometimes.

I am considering one. This is all great information. Thank you.
I like to run with one full locker sack, and 2 X 350 "buddies". Thats how I weighted my 2001 and how I weight my 210.

Erik, I have a 95 Sport and you can get a tube sac/locker sac in there but you won't be able to fill it up all the way. I would say you will probably get 300 lbs in the locker. I use one tube sac in the locker and one on each side of the engine for a total of about 1k +/- in weight. if you are considering a Sport consider mine (shameless plug)... i am in the market for a newer v-drive.

I'm going to be building a custom rear seat for my 94 sport this winter. The seat right now has a plastic support with 3 compartments. I plan on making a new support and using the same seat cushions. The support will be one large opening extending all the way back to the gas tank. By my calculations with a custom made bag you could probably get 400 pounds in it. Then with a locker sack you could run somewhere in the range of 750 pounds fully hidden. There won't be much room for storage in the boat but who cares the wake will be nice.

Skier12 i did a mod to my rear seat to accomodate a sac. Basically the two inner dividers were removed and an aluminum support was placed on the top side of the big black plastic base for the seat cushions. I had the uphostery shop make another piece for the extension. Note the back rest will need to be trimmed to accomodate this extension since it backs up to the gas tank. This space will hold a tube sac to roughly 75% capacity, i guesstimate that i can get about 250 lbs of water ballast in there. A bonus is you can actually use the rear seat to lounge/nap on now.

Biz, I'm glad to see other people have done this sort of modification succesfully. I think I'm going to go about the whole thing a little bit differently then yours. Right now the rear seat slants down toward the back and acctual seat cushion sits below the back rest. I'm going to build a whole new support and the seats are going to sit level and a little bit higher. I want the bottom of the seats and the bottom of the back rest to be level. I'm hoping to only have to build a new support. I'd rather not have to do anything with upholstery. I don't know if any of that made sense but let me know what you think.
