Above engine storage on 211 like 220

I would like to build/buy a storage bin for above the engine like the 220 has. I think this would be a great place for ropes etc. I was thinking about buying the one on the 220 but I glanced at it at the delaership and it would need lots of mods to fit. Has anyone else thought about building one? You know how it is, everyone HAS to use their OWN line. I am thinking about making a boat rule that only one line is needed and we keep yours as a spare.

Your boat, your rules. They want to board, they use your line it they want. i might see changing handles if the rope is not too hard to get loose from the handle.

          Grant has a direct drive...

My 211 ropes/wet stuff goes on the pass through side, dry stuff goes on the other side. There's not that much room above the engine in a 211 and the lid, maybe 4", I wouldn't think it was worth the trouble.

Yeah, my thoughts were that while you are standing on the walk-thru you could raise the engine compartment and drop wet stuff there, then have a drain into the bilge. That way carpet stays dry. The 220 has a hinged door on the back by the swim platform. It is also only about 5-6" deep. I think that one could be built where the front is deeper than the back.

              jeffk,

I have a 220. We use the bin above the motor more than an other compartment (by far). We store the rope and all the vests in there. I have no idea how it would work on a 211 but if it would, go for it. I love the bin on the 220, especially the ability to open it from the swim platform.
