    Delayed boat delivery

Hi all, I have been a Nautique owner for most of my life now (30+ years) now and I respect the brand and the product, but recently I'm not sure what has been going on. I put in an order for a new 2021 GS24 last September. I put down the initial deposit and got a delivery date of early April. Around March 15th, before the delivery, I got a message from the dealer that there was a 4 to 5-month delay on production, which throws a big wrench on our plans to use the boat this summer. I had sold my previous sport Nautique with the expectation that the new boat would be delivered on time as promised, now my kids are left without a boat for the summer. After pressing our dealer to get a specific delivery date they told us that we would instead be receiving the 2022 model, the least they can give there is no point in receiving the 2021 model for use in 2022. But even with the promise of the 2022 model, we haven't even gotten an approximate delivery date and have absolutely no idea when we will receive our new boat. Is there anyone else having the same issue? Is there anything I can do or anyone I can contact? Is anyone aware of any compensation the company is planing in response to the trouble I will have to deal with in response to the delays?

This is definitely not Nautique-specific or even inboard-specific. Friends are having the same probs with fishing and pontoon boats.

You mean the dealer can’t give you answers to this question? I would think they could walk you through and help one empathize with what’s behind the reasons. Well, auto manufactures have a major shortage on production right now thanks to computer chips and not sure what’s all behind that but maybe similar for boats right now

You will never hear this on the Biden protected news media . There are massive material and chemical shortages . Companies can't get the raw material and parts to build their products . Its happening with everything from fiberglass to carpet. I guess being paid to stay home isn't such a good plan after all.

Neither is sourcing everything overseas. ANYTHING sourced in China is having an issue and one of the key reasons is lack of shipping containers as everything tries to catch up. So not only is everything going to be late it is going to be stupid expensive because logistics has skyrocketed due to supply and demand. Shipping container costs are at 5X now.

Skiguy.....the only thing I find odd about the situation is...I ordered my G23 after yours...late Oct...and received my boat mid-April. Curious why some boats are not affected by the factory delay or shortage of parts. My dealer never said a peep about delays, parts shortages....etc....just called and said everything was on track for a late March/early April delivery. I feel for you...especially when the kids want to get out on the water. Hope it turns out for the best. With these new Nautiques.....they are worth the wait.

Same here, we ordered Oct 26th I think and got it at the very end of March... no mention of delays other than the didn't ship from the factory to dealer until they had 3 boats to put on the trailer for a full load, otherwise we would have gotten it mid-March.

Seems odd that orders after the OP's were fulfilled a couple months ago and he has no date,, I would be all over the dealer for more details!
But yes, the shortages are hitting all brands, especially what I see on the BU site.

Boats.. cars.. furniture.. wood...TREX fencing... you name it.. it is being delayed. Nobody has timing updates on anything, at least for me.

The part that would piss me off the most is that they had a 4-5 month delay but didn't tell you until a few weeks before the initially communicated delivery date.

Can you cancel the order and get your money back? Find something used to get you through summer and re-order when the supply chains have caught up? Too much trouble? Might be worth burning a few extra grand to save your summer.

I placed an order for a Sunstream lift back in January; delivery date came and went. There was zero communication about the delays until the day after it was supposed to show up in my slip. Still no idea from the dealer, distributor, or manufacturer when it’s coming.

That really sucks about your delivery date. My dealer told me that Nautique has been hitting dates pretty consistently. I hope this does not turn out to be a problem as we are expecting our delivery early July.

It is all dealership dependent. If his dealership only buys 25 build slots each year, they are going to be spaced out very differently than your TX dealership. When you ordered the boat doesn't matter as much as when the slot your dealership sold you is actually for.
