Boat Lift - what size to get for the 2022 G23 with telescoping tower?

Some sites say to take the dry weight of boat (6000#?) then add the tower, Bimini, and platform (500#) then add full gas tank (500#?)= 7000#s.
Now add another 1000# for 5 people at 200# each and we are at 8000#s!
Then we are supposed to add 20% and like that we are at 9600#s!
Seems crazy but that would tell me I need a 10,000# boat lift!
My dealer says the tower, Bimini and platform are already included in dry weight and 8000# lift should be fine.
    Thoughts? Thanks.

I replaced the old lift with a 10,000 pound dual motor lift. Cost for the upgraded lift was minimal compared to labor/ etc. plus it creaks a lot as it is.

We replaced our Hydrohoist lift rated for 6500# with one rated for 8800# about a month ago when we got our P23, the dry weight should include the tower, etc.

If you ever want to add lead, you might be over loaded with an 8,000 lb lift.

If you are getting a new lift just get a 10,000 and be done with it. As stated above, it's not a big increase in price between an 8000-10000, and you'll have better peace of mind knowing you'll basically never be over weight and it may even last longer. I have a 10k for my 08 230 and could even lift it with ballast full if I wanted (I don't), but knowing I can come in with a load of people and lift without worrying about asking them to get out first is nice.. (I use hydraulic lifts)

+1 for 10K. The difference in price just makes buying the larger lift a nit for the piece of mind you get.

I went with the 10K lift because you never know how the boats will evolve over time and quite frankly with full fuel, people, lead and gear I would not want to have an 8K. We now have a Paragon and very glad we invested in the 10K lift a few years ago!

Depends on the brand of lift you choose. We installed a Shorestation 8k lb lift for our g25 and it doesn't make a sound, even with a packed boat (10+ people). However, I will I try and get people off before I get the boat completely out of the water to reduce strain on the lift. We went with an 8k as opposed to 10k as they only make a 132" width 10k lift as opposed to the smaller 120" width. For piece of mind, the 10k may be worth it to some.

Exactly the dilemma I’m dealing with as our slip will not accommodate the 10k lift. Going to shoot for the Shorestation 8k.

Also the 10k lift is so wide people would really need to leap to get to the boat. Dealers have asked Shorestation to make a 10k at 120 inches but they believe that the only people who need a 10k lift are those with big wide yachts. Please call them and tell them about wakeboats.

Also take into consideration the safety factor built into these lifts. I just bought a 9000lb sun stream lift and it would EASILY lift significantly more than that weight with the limiting factor being the hydraulic motor. The hydraulic cylinders are gigantic and it cams over at max extension so there’s very little hydraulic force being exerted once the boat is stowed. The frame members are laughably large for only 9000 pound capacity.

They just released the 8k 120" version a month ago. It came out a week before we bought it and the only reason we were able to get a lift this year. No shorestation dealers in my area had any 7k lifts available. 1 of the dealers got 5 in randomly right when they were released and we snagged 1. Im sure the 10k will be available in 120" in a couple of years after enough dealers ask for them.
