I am looking for opinions on tower speakers for my Air 226. I only want 2 speakers but I would like to get the best sounding ones. Will I need an extra amp to run the tower speakers or is the Kickers sound system adequate to power them? What about the NVert covers they show in the brochure?

I'm interested in hearing input on this thread as well, as I am looking to purchase some tower speakers too.
As far as Nvert goes...CC dropped their "partnership", and I'm not sure they are even in business any more. I purchased their board racks last summer. I tried contacting them atleast a dozen times...never to hear from them. They make a great looking product, but I'm quite sure they are either out of business, or in very limited business.

Yeah, I want speakers too. I spoke live to Nvert back in December and they told me that they were revamping the speakers because they had some issues with them. However, they did tell me that they solidly stand by the concept of using horn and woofer combo as apposed to 6" or 8" bass/midrange speakers as just about everybody else does. As an example, he pointed out that all arenas use the woofer/horn system for concerts. Sounds like good sense to me. But, I have been leaving messages on their voice mail for two days now and no responce. :|

I would probably recommend getting a seperate Amplifier for your Tower Speakers. I currently have Boss B530's and absolutely love them. In fact, I am hoping whoever buys my boat decides to buy it without the Tower speakers as I would like to keep them for my next ride. Anyway, make sure you remove the bass from them as they aren't made to handle the frequencies below 125, if you get Boss Speaks. They are nice and clear behind the boat.
Amazon- What color combo did you go with on your 226? If you have it, post pics.

I have a 02 team and wasn't happy with the sub it came with. Maybe the location of it doesn't help. I don't know, but I unplugged the sub and then hooked up my tower speakers(kicker mids and horn-I don't even think they make them anymore)in the subs place and they sound pretty good. Took the extra amp and powered a new kicker comp. I made a box for it and put it behind driver seat.
I made the box so that the sub fires down so i can use the box as an extra seat.
The tower speakers(kickers)sound good but I'm not happy. I am currently looking to upgrade. I think Im gonna go with the Deafcon 4's from skylon.

Thanks for in insight. I talked to the guys with Nvert Friday and they are still in business and have some new speakers coming out.
I do not have my boat yet. It is on order. I ordered Midnight blue hull and a black stripe. I saw that color combo at a show and my family fell in love with it. It REALLY looks good. I was all set on Red with the black stripe until I saw this one. I will post pics when I get the boat.jefe,

I shopped around for speakers and decided to go with Rosewell speakers as the quality looks better then the Wake Design Tubbs I was looking at. I am going to try running the stock amp and see what it is like and then maybe in the middle of the summer hook a separate amp for those speakers. I don't really think the sound will be all that great but I love the look of a tower with speakers and it will good for dock parties. Will put a reply when the speakers are installed.

Titan Alpha II is a good combination speaker if you are only going to have 2 on the rack. Definitely get another amp to fit the package.
The lphas look sharp, but not too flashy - this style will not look dated in a few years and they will be plenty powerful for most people.

Being a skier the best tower speakers are NONE. I hate to hear Barry Manilow blasting from some wakeboarders boat as he rides away. (It could happen  :bash:Nautiqueless in San Diego

Tower Speakers
Hey Fat Boy, hold off on the NVS until you get a chance to demo them. I was in Discovery Bay doing the usual weekend thing in my home away from home and heard the NVS system. Now I'm an extremely critical person when it comes to sound. I will not write them off, but I was not impressed with the sound comming from that system. The NVS guys (I assume, only because they were decked out in NVS gear at ski beach) live across the bay from my friend in Disco. So perhaps next weekend I'll stop by and ask for a demo. Seriously though, the industry standard as far as I'm concerned is the Boss B-530. MB quart speakers are awesome. The construction of the cans are great, the clamps are precise, and the overall finish is excellent. Titan also makes very high quality stuff. Make sure you get high quality speakers, the enclosure that they come in is more for looks than anything. Mid range frequencys are not too dependant on enclosure size/shape/reverberance. Cross them over correctly and put a high quality amp to them and you should be happy.Former Service Manager
