G-series docking lights always on???

I’ve noticed on several pics/vids and seen for myself G-series boats with the docking lights are always on when running. They aren’t “on” in the sense the docking lights are turned on, but a dimmer setting. Is this a feature that can be turned off? With those lights on at night you’re effectively defeating the purpose of navigation lights. Was discussing it this weekend with a friend so I’m curious.

They have two settings now. One is intended to be used as a daytime running light setting, and the other is a docking light setting. Yes, you can turn them all the way off too.

I can't stand it when other boaters have those (or similar lights on other boats) on while cruising down the lake at night. Not only is it illegal (it blinds oncoming boaters), but it also ruins the night vision of the driver of the boat with the lights on!

Where is the setting to turn them off? Seems like a bad move for Nautique to do something like that for nighttime boating. IMO they should have it set to if you turn on the navigation lights the “daytime running lights” turn off.

And yes I completely agree with you Jeff… I use a spotlight while running if I can’t see well, but only to get my bearings or see stuff floating in the water. If I see an oncoming boat I try my best not to shine in their direction.

Core...on the new G's, like Jeff said....there is an OFF option, daytime running, and "Night" docking mode. The setting is under the Lights option on the Linc. I can tell you...the game wardens on my lake are sticklers for people running with the Docking lights on on any type of boat. They will give you a warning....but I see them very aggressive with running across the lake at night to tell someone to turn them off. Everyone thinks they are headlights....but they are designed to be for docking only...which I try to use for that purpose only. I didn't even know my new G23 had a daytime setting until the first time out at night when I went to the Light option. (I skimmed through the manual). I've never run them "on" in the day.

I know how you all feel! It just butters my biscuits when people use their headlights on a dark winding road! It’s almost as bad as people using their turn signals in roundabouts or lanterns on a camping trip! But what really gets me is when someone leaves doesn’t replace the toilet paper roll !

Navigation lights are for just that if set up correctly you can tell both direction right or left as well as coming toward or going away. Add headlights or LED party lights and nobody can determine where the boat is going. I don't even know how to turn the dock lights on in my 08 210 . I rarely go out at night and when I do I take the pontoon.
