Modifications & Impact to Resale $

I'm torn on the idea of adding additional ballast to my '21 G23. 90% of the time its me and the wife on the boat. Even with just two more adults, I can tell a significant difference in the wave.

I've added 500lbs of lead but I'm reluctant to add more since its not so easy to remove if I wanted to. I much prefer the idea of removable/drainable ballast. I was bummed that they added it in '22.

Do you think having additional subfloor ballast plumbed in would impact resale value in a negative way? I'm strongly considering this option over adding more lead. I'm new to these boats so I'm not sure how sensitive prospective buyers are to modifications like this.

I personally don’t think it will impact resale value negatively at all. If anything with this particular modification it may set you apart from
    other boats being sold.

Yes I agree. Will add value. Pull the plug and just do it.

Agreed. If it's done properly, I would absolutely prefer a boat that had a ballast upgrade. It'll be a few years before a G23 is in my price range, though.

I’ll echo what everybody else is saying - do it well and it’ll be a bonus at sale time.

Exactly what I was thinking... I don't think it would hurt the value, but ****....

That's a good point, but to each their own. I would bet the stock wave on a '21 G23 is better than the wave from my '07 SV211, and it does the trick.

I don't have to as it makes a really nice wave now. Obviously Nautique saw an opportunity to make it better by adding the additional ballast in '22 models. I get a taste of how much better the wave is when I have people out. When its just me and the wife, there is a noticeable drop off. While i enjoy having people out from time to time, it sure is nice when its just the two of us. I'd like to have the best of both worlds - top notch wave and only two of us in the boat.

G23 shares hull with the Paragon. Paragon has a tower that weighs an extra 1200#, which makes the G23 float a little high compared to what it could. 500# in the back is what my buddy has, and it surfs very very well.

Let me fix your sentence......$200K for a boat and you still have to add weight to make a BIGGER and BETTER wake??? The boat already makes a wake...but can you sleep at night with a "Stock" wake/wave?? A lot of surfers and wakeboarders can't.
