Gojaks and a tandem trailered Super Sport

I'm debating over how many Gojaks I will need to order and was hoping to get a little insight from others as to what I should do:

Basically, I live in an apt with underground parking. I will be storing my boat in the garage. The hard part about this will not be pulling the trailer in, but getting it back out.

I will need to essentially push it back out of the parking spot (the boat will always be pulled/pushed tongue first into the parking spot), then slide the back around to allow my car to hook up to it and pull out of the garage. Being inside, it's a tight squeeze, but will not be that hard/annoying.

I am just curious as to the weight that each gojak will have excerted onto it. I was hoping to get by with two, each Gojack 6200 is rated for 1550lbs (http://www.gojaks.com/6200_specs.htm), and assuming the extension of the shocks on the other two tires don't cause them to drag, will the two jaks suffice in lifting the weight of the boat?

I figure the boat plus trailer is ~3900lbs, assuming the front roller is down, and I put two of these Gojaks under each of the rear tires, would they be able to pick up the boat with no worries?

I apologize if it is a dumb question, but for some reason I keep thinking that having the two will work (will the weight of the boat being exerted on each point be ~1300lbs? (3900/3)).

    Any help would be appreciated.

PS, I live in MPLS and would reallllllly prefer not to leave the boat outside to face the elements and the "bad" elements (i.e. kids stealing my stuff). Thanks much

No the supersport weighs with trailer about 4600 pounds so you should have a set of gojacs for each axle.

I have a 211 wt about 4500 on the trailer. You are going to need 4 to move it around. I tried just buying 2 and couldn't move it an inch

SV211wink, good to hear. How well does it move with four jaks under it? Is it a one or two person job to move it around?

When I was keeping my boat in the garage at the house, to get it in i had to push it by hand. I had a 3 car swing in style garage where the two car door was closer to the house. This meant that the only way it would fit was if the tongue was facing the house, and the stern was pointed towards the street. Since I have a tandom axle trailer, pushing it by hand with all four wheels on the ground was next to impossible unless I only wanted to go front to back, and not turn. The problem is the tires tend to scrub as you have found out, and in order to make easier turns by hand one set of tires needs to be off the ground to slide sideways while the other set is used as the pivot point. I had a cheap set of car dollies that i got from Harbor Freight when I was fixing a car that I wanted to push in the corner of the garage, and wanted the ability to spin in a circle while working on it. I would take ONE set of these wheel dollies and place them under the rear wheels of the trailer, and I could then push the boat around. This is assuming you have a standard tandom trailer that uses the equalizer bar to distribute load to both axles equally regardless of trailer angle. If you have a torsion axle trailer I would recomend two sets to keep the loads on each axle equal.

In short, I personally think one set should acomplish what you are looking for, and if not, you can always buy a second set.

ag4ever, great info, thanks much. Out of curiousity though, what weight load should I be looking to get - I still can't figure out how much weight is put onto each tire.

But is this product the one you are talking about from HF? http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=94682

ag4ever, how easy was the boat to swing and move around by yourself?

Thanks for all the help and info guys!

Nope, I was even more low buck than those. (I did not get mine originally for moving the boat and installing them and taking them out a lot. I got them to put the car on it and leave it on there untill I finished rebuilding the engine, but that is another story.)

                I used:

                http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=38959

I could move it around myself with it on two dollies, but four made it a lot better. Most of the time it was me and my wife pushing it around. If you are on level ground and don't have a bunch of expension joints it has to go over you should be able to do it, but hit the first expension joint and you will need help.

I would guess that each tire sees about 1200 pounds with the tonque jack holding about 600. There should be no load difference between both axles lifted or just one. The load is naturally equalized on a tandem trailer with the leaf springs connected by the bar that rotates.

The big draw back to the ones I used was jacking up the trailer each time to put them under there. The ones you linked to should be much better.

ag4ever, how do you get those dollies under the tires? Do you have to jack up the trailer first? Tried finding better pictures of the ones offered, but no luck.

Yup, had to get the jack out each time and jack up the trailer to fit them under the wheel.

Spend the extra for the Go-Jack or knock offs, you will thank yourself each time you just step on it to get the wheel up.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too with the go-jak style.

Thanks so much for all the input!
