Purchasing 2007 SV-211 TE

Hi All, I apologize if this is not the correct area within the message boards for this thread and please move if needed. I stumbled upon this board last night after determining that I am purchasing this boat on Friday. I just wanted to get some thoughts from an informed community on items to check or be cognizant of with respect to this model. We have a place at Lake Gaston in Virginia and have an older 2002 Sea Ray 190 but my sons (ages 8 & 11) have gotten involved in wakeboarding and we knew another more suitable boat was in our future. This opportunity was presented even though we were not actively looking and we have come to an agreement with the seller. The boat is stock so far as I am aware and has 693 hours and is being sold with a brand new trailer for $40,000. I am confident it has been well taken care of having known the family who kept the boat on a lift since new at White Lake in NC. This was the owner’s third Nautique boat and he was meticulous with maintenance. Just wanted to get some thoughts from the community and looking forward to being an active participant on these boards.

Congratulations on the new boat! I had an '05 for 12 years and loved it, it's a great boat that won't disappoint you. A couple of suggestions - replace the sano pads on the swim platform with Seadek - otherwise you'll have Nautique "N's" burned into your knees if you kneel down to help a young rider. Also go ahead and purchase or build a wake shaper, you'll love the surf wake after you do this. If it has stock ballast, consider removing the hard tanks and adding a couple of big bags - I think Wakemakers has a kit for it. Have fun with the new purchase.

The 211 is a great boat. I have owned one and loved it.

I see that they upgraded the interior by replacing the carpet with SeaDek, which is a great upgrade. They did not, however, replace the black SANO traction material on the swim platform or the transom. You will want to do this for two reasons. First, the SANO can split and crack, and when it does, the edges are razor sharp and can easily cut your foot. Second, the SANO bleeds after a while, and you'll end up tracking black stuff all over the boat once the bleeding starts.

As long as the boat has been maintained, it should last a long time! You'll love the boat.

I've got the same boat in red and white. We love it. It does it all, looks good, and tows well, too. "Yours" looks in nice shape, too.

If you want to surf with it, I'll second the wakeshaper suggestion. I have built my own for about $25, and they work very well. Otherwise, you can just buy one for a few hundo. I also replaced the rear tanks with bags, and it made a huge difference.

My biggest gripe is that I crank my head on the tower speakers way too often.

Thanks, everyone for the great suggestions and feedback. This site is a wealth of information and I am sure many hours of research are in my future. I went by and visited my local Nautique dealer today to introduce myself and get some ideas on options. Our first goal is to order a set of wakeboard racks for the tower. The dealer suggested Roswell but I am open to any suggestions you guys would recommend. Next, they do Gator Step and suggested we use that to replace the SANO on the swim platform. Third immediate item is a head unit that is Bluetooth compatible head unit to replace the stock Clarion. The owner said the horn button also is not operable so hoping just a relay or sticky button situation. I am picking up the boat tomorrow so really excited to join the Nautique community. Thanks again for the warm welcome and initial thoughts and suggested modifications.

Haha, I did this exact thing twice just in the initial 30min inspecting the boat. Going to take some getting used to for sure.

I'm surprised it doesn't have board racks. If you plan to surf, make sure you get racks that can handle the thickness of surf boards. Some thicker boards won't fit in wakeboard-specific racks.
I replaced the wakeboard tines on mine with Roswell surf tines--not a great photo, but it's the best I have right now. Mine had swivel racks--I thought they were stock. I was able to install the new tines on the Nautique swivel racks.

Roswell is the only way to go for the racks. They make several different styles, so just pick one that works for you.

I would caution you on using GatorStep. I have seen examples that did not hold up well, and started falling apart due to UV issues. I would suggest sticking with SeaDek, which is what Nautique uses at the factory.

I'll second the recommendation to not use Gatorstep, I used it on an old ski boat, it neither looked appealing nor wore well. Use the links above, it's actually a simple job and worth every penny.

Thanks very much for the advice on Gator Step, Jeff. And huge thanks for providing the links to exactly what I need to order to complete the transformation from SANO. I am not the most handy of people but maybe there are some videos with instructions on how to remove the SANO and replace with the SeaDek. I picked up the boat today so it is official now. Noticed that only the two factory Polk bow speakers and the tower speakers are working. Nothing from the sub or the other four cabin Polk speakers so will
have to investigate.

You can try searching here. I am sure you can find a thread where someone has done that replacement.

On the audio, I would start by just checking the connections at the amps. If you find that the amp that controls the interior speakers is bad, I just happen to have an original interior and sub amp amp out of a 2007 211 that I restored a while back. I replaced the amp, thinking it was bad, but it turned out to be a different issue. I still have that original, and I'd sell it for the blockbuster price of $50 plus shipping if you want to try it. If it doesn't happen to work when you get it, I'll refund your money.

You know, I was just looking at your pictures, and I am not sure that's genuine SeaDek on your floor.

Do you have any other interior pictures that show the floor? It looks like the "strips" are a little wide, and it appears that the cutout around the latch on the walk-through hatch doesn't match up properly. Maybe it is just the angle of the picture. SeaDek would have near-perfect cutouts.

Even if it isn't genuine SeaDek, it is still better than the carpet!! And I am not trying to knock your boat! It looks great. I am more curious than anything.
