    2003 Air Nautique 216 Upgrade

I have been thinking of upgrading my 03 Air Nautique 216 and would really like to get into a Sport Nautique 200 but they seem to be the Unicorn of used Nautiques for people who want to maintain something close to direct drive capabilities while providing family friendly boating and if they do become available the are selling for new boat prices which brings me to this. I have been able to find some newer 2012ish years Mastercraft X14V's at reasonable prices with lower hours and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these? The ones I have been looking at all have the Ilmor 5.7s in them. Trying to decide if the $10,000 or so price difference between these and the Sport 200's around the same year is worth it. We are a casual skiing family nothing through the course but usually get a few barefoot runs in on the weekends. I am really looking to stay away from Vdrives that are going to have the I/O bow rise at take off and pulling slower speed skiers. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I don't have any experience with the X14V, but I always thought they looked like great boats. Not sure where you are, but Midwest Mastercraft in the Minneapolis area has nice-looking 2013: https://www.midwestwatersports.com/m...raft-x35-d7shx

The X14v seemed to have a much bigger audience and production level when it was released . Lots of positive reviews and lots of love. The 14v definitely doesn’t have the bow rose issue . It’s handles and performs as much mike a d drive as a v drive can. Also looks more like a ski machine. If you were interested in wake and surf as well I’d say hood out for 200. If you strictly looking for a v drive ski tug the X14 V is a very very capable rig . I wouldn’t hesitate on going that route.
